Do not depend on Compubox. HBO in their non brilliance does though for some reason.
When you watch the fight, there are many factors in scoring, not just "landed" punches. they do not tell the whole story.
There are many factors on scoring a round, I am not going to list them because you all already know them, but in the end they mean this: The fighter who lays more hurt and controls the round.
Now for the pro Bradley crowd, they are giving Bradley a lot of credit at the times he was on his bicycle and sometimes when he was on it was was doing OK and actually keeping Manny at bay with punches. Most of the time though he was not boxing, but retreating without throwing hardly anything at all that had intent. Pacquiao was not doing anything either, but he was the one pressing for action and was getting credit for it.
When you box, you still have to make someone pay. Negating their offense with movement is simply not enough. You still have to show intent and you still have to dish out hurt.
That's the part I don't get. You don't earn points for ineffective aggression. And it seemed to be Bradley was in control of the pace and distance, whether backing up or coming forward.
Me too . I stopped watching it again after round six because I had it even...after generously giving Pacquiao a round because I didn't want to think I was being crazy! I think I might have Bradley winning as well. I'ma have to start over smh.
I haven't rewatched yet, but initially i gave Bradley 2 of the first 3 rds and rds 10-12, giving him 5 rds total.
1, 10, 12 and toss up for 11. 11 not much was done on either side but both have claim at it. 10-10 neither stole the round or did anything substantial.
I think too many people are looking at Bradley's punches closer to look for reasons to give him rounds. Most shots from our view atleast show Pac blocking them. So i can't count those even if I try to be generous.
That's nice, but judges don't watch in super slow motion. They have a worse view being below the ring than we do watching at home. I've always said judges need to be placed in soundproof rooms around the arena and watch it that way on monitors.
I've made a thread about this before, can't remember what fight it is, judges needs to be in some sort of elevated position where they will have a clearer view of the fight.
First view was 3-4 rounds for Bradley. Didnt get a chance for a second view yet.
However for the people who decided it was closer for Bradley on the second view. Did you give Manny that benefit of the doubt during the Marquez fight?
Because i had it a clear victory for Marquez on fight night, and after reviewing 2 more times, it became a very close fight to me.
