berto is overhyped and overpaid. he deserves the hate, especially for beating up jr WWs.
A lot of the hate directed towards Andre Berto is unwarranted

If i was Berto
i would keep fighting bums for millions..............
BUT i'm a boxing fan and he aint fought nobody, and his biggest win vs Collazo was a gift vicotry. Until he steps his game up and fights bigger names with better comp, he's gonna be ****ted on no matter whatComment

A lot of boxing fans are....... ******. Has Berto had softer touches from time to time? Yes. Could he face better opposition? Yes. Is any of this really his fault? Doubtful.
HBO and his promoter Lou DiBella want to make him a star. They don't want to risk anything just yet. So they are building him up and are waiting for the perfect time to get him in there with the biggest threats.
The fact of the matter is that fans assume he makes him own match ups. Berto wanted Mosley, until Mosley wanted Mayweather and the Haiti situation happened. Berto wanted Manny after his last fight. Berto has called out a few other names in the past. However, this is a business.
If you want to blame anyone, blame his handlers and/or HBO. Has nothing to do with him. He has heart and skill and he wants to win. You can't ask for much more from the FIGHTER himself.Comment

at the same time...a lot of the hate for Berto would have went away if he would have fought Collazo again and DESTROYED HIM! but he gave his "HATERS" ammunition buy not fighting Collazo again, also allowing Cintron to talk trash about him
I actually like Berto a lot, he has a TON OF TALENT but he just takes fight that HBO will accept and to me that is HURTING HIM...maybe not financial but with the fans I think it generates a lot of HATE toward him
sometimes you have to say "Forget About HBO, Forget About The Money" this fight is for PRIDE & RESPECT and I think that is what fights with Collazo and Cintron would do for him and he would still get paid in the process
I thought Berto vs Collazo was a VERY GOOD FIGHT! Not sure why HBO "WOULDN'T WANT THAT FIGHT" I would love to see them battle again!Comment

Do you know how many ranked welterweight contenders Andre Berto has actually fought since he first won his world title almost three years ago? In total,he has fought just once - and that was over two years ago.I would claim what a joke that actually is,but,in truth, there is nothing funny about it.It's a completely disgrace and a complete and utter embarrassment that a world champion in his own weight class can hold a title for so long and not even have the balls to defend it against credible contenders within that division - especially with the amount of money that he is making for each fight.
Carlos Quintana was no longer relevant at the point he was selected as the next victim of the Berto Cherry Pickin' wagon. He has fought just three rounds in eighteen months and was no longer comfortable even making the welterweight weight limit anymore. Not the worst opponent in the world, but this was clearly a much faded version of the fighter that had spanked Joel Julio and Paul Williams. And the fact that a faded Carlos Quintana is looked upon as one of Berto's greatest victories speaks volumes of how much of a farce Berto's overhyped career has been.
And contrary to what some of these Berto fans(granted, there is very few of them,I know) would have you believe, this isn't some young,up-and-coming prospect that is looking to establish himself in the sport;this is a world title holder that is in his late 20's and has been a professional boxer for over six years at this point. The very least that can be expected is that this cretin actually have the balls to defend his title against fighters that are actually ranked within his own weight class.
Truth is,this joker won't last long if he actually grows a pair and steps up in competition. He's not even completely proven at even a world class level yet.And it doesn't how much they try to force this piece of sh^t down our throats and try to convince us that fighting overmatched opposition in front of twenty people makes him a star, the true fans of the sport of boxing will always know better.Comment
