The promotional switch attempt was only about money. Donaire is a rising star but is just getting paid lower weight-class table scraps compared to the guys up at 135-140. I realize that is a the nature of the business, but GBP was indeed offering Donaire more money. Gamboa and Lopez will probably be moved up by the time Nonito gets to them.

I'm hoping Hasagawa still has the goods once Donaire moves up, that would be a pretty good scrap.

I think he tried jumping over to Golden Boy because Top Rank did close to nothing when they had him. They had him facing Raul Martinez, Manuel Vargas, and Rafael Concepcion on PPV when he could of been building his legacy. Top Rank wasted about 2-3 years of Donaires prime before they put him on against Sydorenko and Montiel.

i dont think thats accurate bro...he made 350 vs montiel and arum said he will pay him 500k whoever he fights next...thats a big pay upgrde if you ask me..

He DIDN'T leave Top Rank, he THOUGHT he did (or had). His original contract does NOT expire until June 25th. Top Rank have an OPTION to extend it for another year. Then there is the extension caused by his 2 medical suspensions of 6 months each, so I'm pretty sure that Arum is absolutely correct when he says his contract is until at least early June 2013.

This is all the usual crap with fighters. Arum and other promoters get this sort of thing ALL THE TIME. They DEAL with it. Part of the business.
