The promotional switch attempt was only about money. Donaire is a rising star but is just getting paid lower weight-class table scraps compared to the guys up at 135-140. I realize that is a the nature of the business, but GBP was indeed offering Donaire more money. Gamboa and Lopez will probably be moved up by the time Nonito gets to them.

I'm hoping Hasagawa still has the goods once Donaire moves up, that would be a pretty good scrap.

Can't say it didn't cross my mind (considering that's all Bob wanted to talk about at the post Montiel conference), but I doubt it. I think it had more to do with money and the amount that Golden Boy would offer versus that of TR. The Gamboa/Lopez thing wasn't in the immediate future, so I don't think it played much of a role, if any. But if Donaire does end up in GB and Gamboa/Lopez ever match-up in weight with Donaire, assuming he moves up before they do, then it would absolutely suck b/c we know we're not getting that fight now.
