Ok, I said that Cotto would be a glorified tune up fight for Mayweather, without hating, just take a look at the styles, Cotto is far too precictable to make it an interesting fight.
for a couple of rounds sure. He has a pretty good ****in jab, and his footwork is solid. He seems to do better against boxers to. Nevertheless, Mayweather murks him. May is to precise, skilled, and his defense is ****in impregnable to most boxers. Mayweather>Cotto in every single department. His jab, timing, and precision will ultimately be to much for Cotto today.
Cotto is really good technically, but Mayweather is great technically.
To begin with we're gonna' stipulate that this fight occurs within the jr middleweight division; ur not gonna' pull a Pacquiao and ask MC to come in beneath his comfort zone. Cotto is the underdog here. One doesn't further hamper the underdog...
Didn't fugaround w/ur manipulative poll. To answer the headline question, Idk;
Floyd is Floyd. Can't fug w/that.
But!!!... MC might be rediscovering his own greatness under the historically-proven expertise of Emmanuel Steward...
With new confidence, expert guidance and the heart Cotto has?
Might be a really good fight.
I'll still take Floyd by decision based on his extravagant natural talent + an unassailable work ethic.
Mayweather is just too sharp in everything he does. Offensively and defensively.
His defense is the best in the game. He is quick , his reflexes are great , and his footwork is just too much.
His offensive game is on another level too. He is so smart. The way he picks his spots , his crisp , sharp quick punches. His combination.
Cottos only chance is inside. I say fight a la Clottey , and the only time when you let your hands go is when you have him in close range. Go to the body , upper cut and try to bully him. But Mayweather is also smart enough to know when to clinch.
I think Floyd beats Cotto pretty badly. But I don't think Floyd would have the balls to fight Cotto. I hope I'm wrong, cuz that would actually be a pretty damn good fight and a great build up to a Pac show down.
