      Solid fights

It was a treat to watch these three cuban prospects along with a great performance from Carlos Molina.

      1.Yudel Jhonson:

I liked him alot, his patience and tenacity was impressive and it was refreshing to see him control the pace with his jabs and fast combinations.Gutierrez was definitely overwhelmed and the stoppage was premature but for what it's worth his expirience held him until the stoppage.

      2. Yunier Dorticos:

Powerfull and relentless and he just beat up an overmatched Jose Luis Herrera in two lop sided rounds and it's apparent that this guy is confident although his mouthing off at the end of the fight directed towards Herrera was uncalled for considering that Herrera has lost his last six fights well now seven fights and he had only five days to prepare. Either way though I like Dorticos upside and at age 25 he has time to get even better.

      3.Erislandy Lara :

Dissapointing, like everyone else I though he would make quick work of an inactive Molina considering that Molina had not fought for more than a year. However Molinas non stop body shots and clinch/conservative style game plan gave Lara fits as he never managed to land any of his powerfull hooks and his inablity to jab just made it the kind of fight Molina wanted. Lara seemed way too over confident and as the fight progressed save for an explosive eighth round where he landed a powerfull hook he just lost his swagger that he had before the fight and he clearly underestimated Molina
      consider me included.

Overall not a bad night of fights Jhonson,Dorticos,Molina all impressed and I guess it's back to the drawing board for Lara but I expect him next time to come back with a fury and hopefully a Jab.

Looks like the Cubans ain't all that. With Lara showing major weakness, Despiagne(spelling) losing, and Gamboas chin problems I don't see any Cubans really cementing a great legacy in the sport. A lot of hype, not a lot of production.

Gamboa has had footwork issues that resulted in getting caught off balance with punches and thus getting knockdown. These knockdowns are very different from kockdowns resulting from being legitametly being hurt and getting knock down by a flush punch to the noggin. Let's be real about it brother.

Not every talented Cuban can be a successfull great pro. Iwatched Lara a few times and he never impressed me as much Gamboa, Rigo or even Solis did.(Solis has the tools to beat Vitali but couldnt continue because of that injury) And besides of that Lara can still learn something and be successfull, one loss is no career ender for a fighter.

I generally agree with this post, except Gamboa having a chin problem. The guys has never been hurt. Thats like saying Tito Trinidad or Ali had chin problems.
Anyway, its true what your saying. Of the bunch, at this point it looks like Gamboa will be the only one to do much in the sport. Maybe Rigondeaux, but at his age its a long shot.

Damn, Lara really got exposed... I should've known he wasn't what he was cracked up to be, because Grady Brewer had some success against him as well. Yeah, he will get beat often. I'm not sure he would even beat Vanes to be real about it.

Don't count out Rigondeaux. I think Gamboa will be the next to be exposed, but unless Donaire comes his way, I don't see Rigondeaux losing for a long time.
