I dont think Cotto struggled for that win. He took his time and let it come to him. Remember that he's naturally smaller than Mayorga and the dude is a wild puncher. It looked like Cotto took his time and picked him apart like he was supposed to.

¿Struggled? ¿When?..Cotto fought a smart fight & didn't get lured in to those crazy Mayorga tactics..& by fighting that way Cotto just made it easier for himself to get a clear cut victory.. & the reason he's not fighting those guys(u mentioned) is because he's fighting Margarito next..It's self explanatory!!!Comment

While both fighters seem to be past their prime, Cotto looks like he has more/somthing left. Magarito has fought only twice in ........years and it was clearly abvious in his last fight vs Pac. This is another BS priliminary fight for Pac II. Pince mamadas.

I actually think alot of people are going to be surprised, Tony included, at how sharp Miguel is going to come into this one. I love how consistently he attacked the body of Mayorga -something that was absent in the Margarito fight. I see Cotto slipping and jabbing the whole night, eating some cannon fodder on the way in but otherwise plastering Margs with counter lefthooks and an occasional straight right hand. I think Emanuel's strategy is to chop him down from below. Atleast for this fight he'll know what to expect from his adversary, and wild angles won't be a factor against a pressure guy so much as conditioning will be.
The cardio becomes essential as both men will remain influx for the better of 12 rounds with the gameplan to keep all the action in the center of the ring. One thing Cotto cannot do is allow himself to be bullied. If Margarito comes in for an exchange Miguel has to plant himself and dictate the pace of his advance. He should be willing to step in and out when needed and apply forceful combinations then turn him. Rinse and repeat.. you'll see Marg flash his infamous grin(Antonio's personal "fk you" to Miguel) and this time we can expect a different reaction from Cotto. Steward will instruct him to **** to the body as often as possible. Eventually the fight is going to turn ugly. When Margarito's workrate begins to slow and he lurks forward in Zombie assault mode Miguel Cotto is going to unload some mean leather to the damaged eye.
His liver throbbing and his right eye bulging from it's socket....it will be a sad day for Tijuana because retribution will be enacted upon it's false hero!!! War Cotto!!!!

how did he struggle by winning basically every round??? Why would he fight angulo or chavez jr? Who the hell have they beaten to be in the ring with cotto. And martinez should fight middleweights cause he's the middleweight champion of the world. Cotto and margarito is the fight the boxing world wants to see period end of discussion. Although i don't think it can live up to july 26, 2009 but it will be a damn good fight with a different outcome this time. WAR MIGUEL COTTO make all ur fans even more proud by beating antonio margarito.Comment

wow!!!! are u serious kid... your still arguing with me about this... ummm.. first of all Cotto wasnt getting tag all night by Margo he was ahead in the score cards by far!! and if the fight would have went through the 12th rounds!!! Cotto would have won easily.. second of alllll, the few times Margo actually started hitting Cotto!!! he was getting Hit with a CAST!!!! you really need to get hit with a cast lolComment

ummm who ever thinks Cotto struggled against Mayorga doesnt know boxing... watch the fight for a second time or third maybe and you will see.... he was just taking his time and boxing around the ring with an IDIOT!!!! Mayorga might be 38 but he can take a punch and he defenately can throw wild shots that if he catches anyone, they will go down... his not an easy fighter to get by.. Cotto did really good, he actually took his time and didnt fall into Mayorgas games. Mayorga was praying for a lucky punch and got agravated when he noticed he couldnt land anything big against Cotto cuz Cotto was actually patient and boxing Mayorga!!! Mayorga is not a boxer, his a brawler nad he just couldnt handle Cottos boxing skillsComment

LOL! We've been throught this before. Tito cheated by both the way he wrapped his hands and that he used too much tape.Tape is much heavier/denser than wraps and to make it worse alot more can be applied than wraps which=significantly more power. That's why Tito's record before and after he was caught is so much different,which is even more telling when you consider that the KO's Tito got after he was caught were mostly against cream puffs and a Mayorga who let himhit him. And Tito's dad actually said he'd always wrapped Tito's hands the same way whereas Margarito most likely didn't cheat more than once. Tito couldn't even hurt Mayorga when Mayorga let him hit him with his hands down. Oscar who's 3 divisions smaller than Tito knocked Mayorga on his butt seconds into the fight. Of course Margarito cheated but the problem is in the context in which you call him a cheater and that is by saying he cheated vs Cotto. Lastly, Margarito's trainer was trying to apply plaster to a sponge. A sponge is going to absorb a very minimal amount of plaster because plaster is too thick and dry. The amount would be irrelevant and the biggest danger would be to Margarito himselfbecause his trainer was trying to apply it between his knuckles and the wraps which would result in Margo's hands getting cut and bruised.Comment
