i could be wrong but i think the reason hamed retired was because he was so embarassed that he was so easily defeated.
Ths Hamed/Barrera fight wasn't as one-sided as people try to make out. Sure Barrera won and out boxed Hamed... But the fight was not like Wright/Trinidad by any means.

    The scores read:

    116-111 | 115-112 | 115-112

I think people get carried away when remembering fights they've not seen in a while.

Barrera should have won by a bigger margin than that.
What I remeber most is how horrible Naz was made to look. He was flying all over the place when he missed & when he was hit.

He looked like a true fool in there for a great part of the fight.

You Brits will think I'm a "hater" of Hamed, & that leads me to speaking of him this way. The truth is, I hate him because of the way he fought, & you can't argue with that. I thought he was an atrocity.

also dont forget the one point deduction in the 12th round... that changes the scored and makes it look alot more dominating

if it wasnt so one sided, how home hamed didnt take a rematch, or even continue fighting?

Hamed was throwing wild haymakers towards the end of the fight, but that was because he was completely frustrated by Barrera and he knew he was losing the fight... So he was looking for a quick fix.

I can't understand how anyone could hate the way he fought?... Everything I was ever taught about boxing and the way to do it, from my footwork to my guard to even how to throw punches was as if Hamed had taken the "boxing manual" and throw it away. But that's what made him so fascinating to watch!

For example:... When you know a lot about footwork... Watching Hamed switch stance every 5 seconds and then stand square on was baffling, and very exciting too.

I used to watch him and I couldn't figure out how he did it... And I was an amatuer at the same time he was starting to become a name.

y he didnt continue fighting? i dont know. y he didnt ask for a rematch? probly because he and his handlers thought that the 2nd fight would be just like the 1st.

He fought ugly.....& did a lot of wasteful things in there.
Yes, he had the physical tools to carry them out.....as long as he wasn't tackling A-level opposition.

You guys think he underacheived, while he think he maxed out his potential with that absurd style.

                  That fight was super onsided...

the brit commentators were right when they said...

"Im afraid Naseem Hamed has been found wanting at this level of the game".

                  Thats just the truth.

Naz avoided the Barerras of the world as long as he could. When he faced Barrera, his nightmares about what would happen when he fought at that level...WERE CONFIRMED.
That's why he had only one, meaningless, fight after that....& now weighs half-a-ton.

                      you are kidding right man???
i dont know if he took him seriusly or not
but barrera owned the prince i just watched the fight yesterday. and it wasnt even close. the prince was just clowning around.

IMO my favoroite part of the fight is when barrera pushed Hammed to the corner and he was asking him "Who is yor daddy??"

im an EM guy but boy i loved Barrera that night
