it's time for him to step it up and stop fighting the fringe, staying on the margin.

if he's not sparking people out that he's clearly better than and he's not taking on names, then he's giving himself a hard time to convince the world wide/wise boxing fans, he's won over canada, cool, they have great crowds, now he needs to make that kind of splash on the world level, i'm not saying fight in USA only, but fight the names that are known world wide.

there are tons of fights out there for him that will be exciting, he needs to step up to the plate and fight them.

if butes next fight is against a fringe guy again, then i wouldn't expect him to do anything but the same thing in continuing to fight fringe fighters.

it's step up now, or really, lose credibility, home town crowds only go so far.

as a side thought about this situation, FIGHTERS need to know that the zero loss in their record is only minor compared to the quality of fights. we see enough guys who have put on exciting fights and have lost only to comeback and get another big payday on tv, win or lose, it doesn't matter, it's the content that gets produced inside the ring that matters, not zero losses.....

it's is all fine and dandy with beating lesser fighters in the ring, looking good, and keeping your record undefeated, but if it's against guys that you're the favorite over, each and every time, it's not as substantial and doesn't hold as much water as a fighter who makes exciting fights every time out, fighting tough competition.

i like bute, but his time has come, he either needs to sht or get off the pot. if he isnt fighting names from here on out, then he's never going to, he'll be using the frank warren method of career building, get them too young or too old, all with decent records on paper, even though the stats don't justify hype and promotion of the match ups......... seen it, it's old, and obvious.

step up or stop blowing smoke.......
Nice post man......I dont want to hear excuses from his fans for facing weak fighters Brinkley and Magee are not exactly the upper crust of the division.I will throw out a respectable name for him to fight that should be free Kelly the ghost Pavlik.

It took Bute a bit longer to solve this guy but he still did what he had to do. At the end of the day, he won in impressive fashion. Those body punches were vicious and he did connect with a few uppercuts that did in his opponent. Another thing that impressed me about Bute is that he realized that he couldn't do the usual things he does with this guy so he changed it up a bit and was using the occassional right hook to keep his opponent honest.

Bute did get caught at times and needs to be careful the way he keeps his right hand so low
His uppercuts are nice but what happens when he gets in there with grade A competition, they will disect those uppercuts on tape and he will have to quickly adjust or get blown out.

It's time for him to step up and fight the elite's Pavlik and Kessler would both be nice choices.also i want to see him fight outside of Canada at some point he has to take his ass on the road and beat someone out side of his comfort level.

I would favor Ward Dirrell Froch Kessler Pavlik and maybe even Taylor over him.

In my opinion, yeah it too Bute sometime to really become "effective" in the fight, but when he found it, it was all over.

I think Bute is better than Kessler, I'll even go as far as to say that Bute puts Kessler's eye on ice for good. Bute and Froch would be interesting to watch though!

Then he needs to prove it Pavlik Taylor and Kessler would all be legit fights for him until the super six is over.

Why do people compare Bute with Ward in terms of fighters faced...Bute is 31 and 4 years older than Ward.....also, atfer the super 6 has finished.....Ward resume will be better than Bute.....

I hear you bro; I'm sure he'll fight a marquee name soon. Personally, with all respect to the fighters you mentioned, the three you mentioned bring little to the "stock" (as you put it) I'll give you Kessler and that's it. My three would be Hopkins, Dawson, or Pascal/Cloud and THEN of course the winner of the super duper six.

he hasn't had any options at 168. now he does. lets see if he actually follows through.
