Bute was just trying to get in rounds. These people who obviously watched him for the first or second time are coming out of the woodwork to diss him after last night. Here's my favorite current criticism, "he gets hit a lot". He got hit with maybe 10 punches, effective punches in 10 rounds. Other smw's get hit a lot more than bute.

Agree 100%.His opponent fought southpaw, let go some sneaky punches, was awkward and had heart. So it gave Bute some trouble.
It took Bute a bit longer to solve this guy but he still did what he had to do. At the end of the day, he won in impressive fashion. Those body punches were vicious and he did connect with a few uppercuts that did in his opponent. Another thing that impressed me about Bute is that he realized that he couldn't do the usual things he does with this guy so he changed it up a bit and was using the occassional right hook to keep his opponent honest.
Bute did get caught at times and needs to be careful the way he keeps his right hand so lowComment

Kessler and Bute will sure be interesting if it goes down, Magee was an "opponent" and nothing else.. a stay busy fight if you will.. props to him though, hes a tough SOB.
Still not convinced by Bootay and not just on this performance.Comment

A few things to remember...
MaGee is a decent, veteran fighter who has only been stopped once prior to the Bute fight. He's got a decent chin and a decent defense. Froch took 11 rounds to stop him, one more than Bute. He's also not someone that was going to get caught up in the moment.
Also, Bute had a relatively long lay off and he came back against that type of fighter, who is also a cagey southpaw.
To me, this performance did nothing but keep Bute busy. In a good way. He didn't look bad and he didn't look great. Just kept him busy.
Against a better fighter like Mikkel Kessler, Bute steps it up. If he can handle his power, which I assume he can, then he has a good shot to make the fight interesting and winnable. Not to men, he's faster and does have power of his own.
Should be a good one.Comment

I wouldn't say it dropped, but if it rose...not by much
Sure the body punches he landed as counter uppercuts were nice...but that was absolutely it. Take nothing away from Magee, he was a legit challenger, just overmatched and outgunned. If I were Kessler, I'm making sure I get Bute next before he pulls out another Andrade II performance.Comment

I said, "His opponent fought southpaw, let go some sneaky punches, was awkward and had heart. So it gave Bute some trouble."There was nothing awkward about Magee. He wasnt even throwing punches. Bute is gonna get run through by Froch and Ward. His claim to fame is Andrade who is decent but totally one dimensional. He still almost got knocked out in a fight he was winning. His defense is bad and i cant see him changing before he has a run in with some real comp.
It's your opinion but there were others including the commentators who brought that up as well.
You were not impressed but Bute won in impressive fashion.Comment
