These r "Fresh out of prison" fights. I'd say he's allowed at least 1 more before we can ask him to step his comp up. The only reason I say 1 more is becuz these 2 fights happened in the same month, and I just figure it'll take a little longer to work out all the kinks.

Kirkland did well for being out the ring so long and just having a fight two weeks ago. He did get momentarily buzzed in round 1 but he came back nicely in the 2nd round. Needs to work on defense but his offense is already very good. He does throw wide punches sometimes, but in the 2nd round (around 2m40s) he threw a brilliant 4 punch combo at close range, with short, sharp punches just before the KO, so he does have decent punch variety. Performance was a little rough around the edges overal but it's a work in progress.

Let's see him and Ishe Smith fight! Smith is a good veteran who has given plenty of good fighters hell.

berrio knew he wasn't supposed to win and that's why he didn't KO kirkland's ass. all i'm saying his HBO is on kirkland's nuts but kirkland has trouble with bums. he's a hype job because of that. hbo should be hyping pirog and not this bum
Not a hype job at all.

And, yes he beat the love child also beat Vera, who has wins over Lee and Mora. Neither one a world beaters but are better than bums.

It's his 2nd fight back, 2nd fight in a month span, from coming off a very long layoff while being in prison where rumor had it he was over 200lbs.

Now will he get beat by Martinez? Duh...WTF? So ******....Martinez is an elite fighter. And, Kirkland is not ready for Martinez right now. He's barely getting back to boxing shape and where he was at, at one point of his career.

It will take like a year until he's ready for a Martinez. And, even then he still might not beat him but will be ready to face that level.

                  But, not a hype job.

Not a bad match up. But, not a fight that should be made right now or next.

How many rounds has he fought since his comeback? 3 rounds?

                    Not enough.

He needs rounds. Fight somebody durable next, somebody who can give him rounds but not really a threat to beat him.

A Kirkland-Smith fight should be made in the fall, sometime during the end of the year. He should be ready for a Smith then.

I'd like to see Kirkland and Pirog fight each other to see who deserves the shot at Martinez the most that way Martinez wouldn't have an excuse to duck the winner of that fight.
