Comments Thread For: James Kirkland Batters Jhon Berrio Over Two Rounds

At the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, California, junior middleweight James Kirkland (27-0, 24 KOs) made it two in a row with a second round stoppage of Jhon Berrio (15-9, 11 KOs). Berrio was counted out in the second round of the match. Kirkland returned March 5 after a two year layoff due to legal problems. He stopped Ahsandi Gibbs in one round. He is scheduled to appear on the Erik Morales-Marcos Maidana undercard on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

He needs at least two more tune-ups before fighting real competition.

It's time for Kirkland to step up his competition. He needs someone to give him some rounds to prepare him for the better fighters in the division. If he keeps blasting people out of there, we will never know about his conditioning and if he can keep pace with other natural middleweights. I am looking to forward to seeing Kirkland against a live opponent soon...

He should fight a more durable guy.

              Not a better guy.

              A featherfisted iron chin dude.

              He needs rounds.

              But not against good guys.

that fight was a joke. berrio hurt kirkland and staggered him in the 1st round. when kirkland legs were gone berrio just stood there and let kirkland get his legs back.

in the 2nd kirkland "knocked out" berrio when berrio's guard was up. yeah it looked nice but on the replay you could see it wasn't ****.

martinez eats kirkland alive. kirkland is another HBO hype job like victor ortiz and devon alexander.

if a tomato can like berrio can hurt kirkland but steps off the gas because he isn't looking to win what do you think martinez will do to this guy?

Should James Kirkland win April 9, he will likely return in June in what will be the big step up fight. #boxing
