Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto on Facing Sergio Martinez, Antonio Margarito

WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is resting from last Saturday's twelfth round knockout Ricardo Mayorga. Top Rank is drawing up a plan to match Cotto against Mexican rival Antonio Margarito on April 16. Cotto was knocked out by Margarito in eleven rounds in their 2008 battle. Cotto is interested in getting his revenge. He wants to discuss Margarito, among other options, when he meets with Top Rank in the near future.

It wouldn't surprise me if he took either fight, but I'm hoping for Margarito.

If Miguel fights Martinez I'm in for a tough night, and so is Cotto

I believe he could actually take that fight.

    WARRR Cotto !!

Cotto once said he'd never fight Margarito again but personally in light of the plaster incident I do think Cotto has unfinished business with him so I'd like to see that fight.

Cotto needs to stick with his rematch with the cheater Margarito and then talk Martinez..

It's funny how everyone says Martinez hasn't beaten ELITE MW's yet when the name Pac comes up everyone expresses he's a HUGE TOP #1 MW and should stay at "his" weight (as if he's been a MW for his entire career) or fight SMW's as if the SMW's wouldn't be "picking" on the smaller Martinez like Martinez "picking" on the smaller Mayweather/Pac. hmmmm last time I checked Mayweather and Pac fought at JMW the weight a 5'10 Martinez spent most of his career at (who actually started out at as a WW). I don't recall Martinez ever fighting at SMW?

So what's your point? Martinez only fights for the money now, Enough said. If he cannot get a fight with Pac or May, so be it. Pac Team admitted that beyond WW is dangerous, and it might cause further injury (Imagine this, fight night weight, Martinez-170 lbs and Pac-147 lbs) Does it make sense? Please be logical and stop hating. So love it or hate it, Pac is staying at 147.

THIS IS BOXING, FIGHT'S SHOULD BE DANGEROUS..........Money, are you serious because so does every other boxer including your hero. Genius, why do you think he fought margarito and mosley? Not because they deserved it

Cotto gets ko'd bad by martinez, way too fast

Right, so if Pac came into the fight at 147 fight night WHY cant Pac fight JMM at LW or JWW????? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM????

Too little for JMW when it comes to Martinez. Too little for WW when it comes to Cotto. Too big for LW/JWW or a catchweight in between 130-140 for JMM.

What you fail to understand is that its not about "WEIGHT" its about "WHO" the fighter is....

Pac strategically hand selects certain fighters at certain weight classes at certain weights. Makes no difference on the "WEIGHT" its all about WHO the fighter is...

Martinez is dangerous, the cheater Margarito wasn't. Cotto was dangerous, (dehydrated) De La Hoya and looser Clottey wasn't. Mosley was "too good" from 141-147 when he came off the KO of Margarito. 2 years later of not winning and at the age of nearly 40, he's not so "too good"..... its about WHO not about weight. Martinez isnt even the point as he is "BIG". Its the fact of how Pac "selects" fighters.... its not hard to see when you look at the opposition. Clottey, Margarito and Mosley all have one thing in common.... They haven't won a fight in over 2 years.

People want Martinez to fight "nobodies" at MW or move up to SMW (as if "the big names" are not tired into the super six) yet its OK for Pac to avoid "nobodies" like Berto and Bradley who wont bring in the money? lol Yea lets continue to see Pac fight "the best" (top rank) fighters who haven't won a fight in over 2 years let alone being "current" champions and not former champions from years ago... lol

Why do ignorant boxing fans keep refering to margarito as a cheater! people would rather believe cotto got beat unfairly than admit he dropped to one knee and quit like a coward! margarito didnt quit against pacman. and margarito took a beating! get off that that cheater silliness! puerto rican fans live in denial!
