"Martinez did confirm last week he has no plans to move up to the crowded 168-pound division, because with a smaller, 5-foot-10 frame, he would be giving away too much size. " http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=6216573

And why he is asking welterweights 5-foot-6 frame to fight him on 154 lbs and outweigh his opponent by 20+ lbs on fight night??? hahaha

Martinez vs Pacquiao Winner Take On Vitali Klitschko!

****** to be daydreaming about Martinez/Pacquiao. Freddie Roach has already said Manny is not going beyond 147, and rightfully so. That's how you get your franchise killed. Manny is already fighting guys that walk around Fight Night at 160-165 lbs! Manny is 145-147 all day long. Sergio Martinez will weight 170-175lbs the night of the fight and that's a ridiculous advantage, that can ruin your fighter. It is too bad Mayweather is afraid to fight Manny. But to take fights above 147 is suicide. NEXT they'll want the winner to fight Vitali Klitschko at a "catch weight" of 230lbs! Let Martinez move up and fight Bernard Hopkins, who still has game. Dela Hoya got about ruined moving up to fight Hopkins, as did Mosley moving up to get beat up fighting Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright. ONLY Sugar Ray Leonard pulled it off with wins over Marvin Hagler and Donny LaLonde, and these guys are NO Ray Leonard.

Everyone is already starting to claim Martinez is the new #1 p4p fighter and there's nothing anyone can say to deny it. Personally i do think Martinez is too big for Manny. Pac fights at 147 and he can't fight a real 154 boxer. The fight with Margarito was a big joke and i think everyone knows it by now. The fight that makes sense for him is the Cotto fight but Arum and Cotto aren't interested.

            C'mon people...

Before Sergio's last fight, the majority of people on here (and esp. Pac naysayers) were claiming Manny Pacquiao was a natural lightweight and could and should go down to atleast 140 to fight JMM (TO BE FAIR TO JMM). Now, some of those same people are crying for Pac to go UP to 154 to fight a legit Middleweight in Martinez, who could easily go up to challenge at 168. If Pac agreed at a catchweight of 150 then they'll say it's weight draining Sergio (Some people still fight tooth and nail over Cottos 1-2 pounds ffs). It amuses me that the constant Pacquiao critics complain and carry on about Manny and catchweights, but never seem to have a problem with one if its NOT FAVORABLE TO PAC. Like it or not, we all know the reason why Pac even went as high as 150 (weighing in at 144 ffs) and he never had intentions of staying there. Period. His entire team and Manny himself have repeated it, he does not want to fight anywhere near the Middleweight div. But some people will never give the man credit, and that's their choice. I'm not even saying I agree with all of Pacs most recent choice of opponents, but that's not my point. My point is the weight issues not who he's fighting. I detest Arum, but Pac is fighting the fights given to him and has been exciting and fun to watch. But the arguement about how Pac HAS to go up or down in weight to be a "true" champion, is getting just plain ridiculous at times.

Some of you guys will never give up the "Pac is a fraud because..." theme and that's your priviledge. But Sergio Martinez himself, after his biggest and proudest win over Paul Williams II said in his own words "MANNY PACQUIAO IS TOO SMALL." I believe that video is here on B.S. He also said at that time the the lowest he could go is 156 (and that is cutting weight). http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...6#post10058816

But the weight difference IS extreme and is more of an issue then Pac going down to 140 to be "fair" to JMM. But like I said, some will argue both ways (Pac should go down to 140, AND Pac should come up to 154), and then ***** if there's a catchweight.
So why do you think that a man (Pac), who came in his last fight at 144 (only 148 fight night) and a man (Martinez), came in at 158 (at 170 fight night) would be a reasonable and legit fight? But some of you, just keep on keeping up the good fight about Pacquiao not being legit...

Doesnt seem like your too knowledgeable, and you answered your own question. the problem is Pac will demand a catch weight of 147.1 for the 154 title and Martinez prob cant make 154lbs anymore. The fight needs to take place at 154 no catch weight but we all know Pac will never do that, I mean Pac came in at 144lbs of a catch weight of 150lb whn he fought Margarito. What make you think he will go higher in weight to a bigger, better skilled fighter like Martinez? Jst doesnt seem realistic ...

I can't believe people are still trying to say pac shouldn't fight martinez because of size.

Whose WBC Light Middleweight belt did pac just get gifted, so he can claim being a champ in 8 weight classes? Martinez's...

Pac-man holds a win in his last fight against a fighter bigger than Martinez for Martinez's belt without actually having to face Martinez.....

Martinez = too good, not too big!

Why anyone continues to say otherwise is just flabbergasting to me!

Great post as usual.. in agreement with you 110%! The first couple of lines in your post is enough shut this thread down. I just sit back for the most part.. the back and forth has gone on for long enough. It's the 'same game different name' for some of these posters.

Personally, i think Sergio is too big but i only said that because of the phony title that Manny won at 154. Again, its my belief that Manny is too small but the point i was making is Manny looks like a hypocrite. How is it ok for Margarito to outweigh him by 17 pounds at 154 but its not ok for Sergio Martinez? The fact is Manny is a real WW but his decision to fight at 154 was a damn joke.
