Because he's black.
Why does this guy get overlooked in history?

I'd say because lightweight has 1 of the richest histories of all the weightclasses. And while he was a great fighter he seems very normal when compar,ed to the likes of duran, chavez, arguello, armstrongComment

a very solid fighter, and probably the most accomplished lightweight since Pernell Whitaker...which is pretty high praise.
the thing is that he did virtually nothign outside of lightweight, and ended his career pretty badly...and unfortunately thats all people look at a lot of the time. which is unfair, but it answers your question. although I actually think he might still be fighting.
another thing is that Lightweight might be the most talented division in the history of boxing. people dont usually bring up greats like Benny Leonard, Canzoneri, Ambers, Ike Williams, Joe Brown, Carlos Ortiz, or Ken Buchanan either, and Castillo wasnt any better than those guys.
very exciting, always seemed to be in a close firefight. apart from the Corrales war, I really liked his fight with Lazcano.Comment

He's a great Lightweight.
Considering its such a deep division historically his greatness gets downplayed.
However I think he's a boaderline HOFer personally.Comment

Im sorry. And the Corrales fight. They do down grade Castillo to belittle Floyd's accomplishments. B*tch quote me if you wanna call names. This comes from a boxing dummy that thinks Moreno has one of the best jabs in boxing. Dummy.Comment

First part is very much a stretch, I don't think anyone belittles what Mayweather has done, we just want to see him fight Manny. I don't understand why Mayweather fans can't get that.If they give Castillo his due credit that probably indirectly boosts Mayweathers resume and they wont stand for that. Im not starting **** but its the truth. Look at how long the famous statement "Floyd's only claim to fame is two wins over Castillo". The hate is that bad.
I loved the way Castillo fought and he always seemed to be in exciting fights. He was beating Corrales up in their first fight until Corrales spit the mouth piece out and gave himself time. In the rematch we saw who was the better fighter.
I don't know why but I have always been a real big fan of Castillo.Comment
