Why does this guy get overlooked in history?

    Jose Luis Castillo

    62 - 10 (53 ko) 1 draw

Champion at LW and JWW, great puncher and very good boxer. Kind of like the poor mans version of JCC.

I always loved this guy, he was exciting to watch and a lot of people think was the only man to beat Mayweather.

Why don't people talk about this guy more?

because he ended his career like the tragic figure you hoped he wouldn't

out of shape in need of money fighting in weight classes above his prime and looking like crap against guys he should have owned

but man I swear I have never seen a in fighter like him live.

If they give Castillo his due credit that probably indirectly boosts Mayweathers resume and they wont stand for that. Im not starting **** but its the truth. Look at how long the famous statement "Floyd's only claim to fame is two wins over Castillo". The hate is that bad.

How many ATG's have that same story. Its the most common story i boxing so try the next excuse. Tyson, Ali, Holmes, Duran, Leonard, Louis and the list goes on.

        really?

you really think it's because it's some odd way to discredit Floyd?

        wow

and current perceptions do drive opinions

had you realized this then you would also realize that at the time guys like Duran Hearns et al were going through their fighting bad fights they too were taken down a notch because of it

but over time people forget about the end and appreciate the fighter as a whole

this too will happen with JLC but considering how bad he looked against Gomez it won't be for a while

honestly, most of his fights are against nobodies (no names). he got ko'ed by hatton and whooped by mayweather. he will be remembered for his 1st mayweather fight and especially his fights with corrales.

He had a damn good run at LW. And, fought the who's who at LW...

JLC, is arguably a top 25 ATG LW...That history is rich with tradition. So many great HOF fighters. And, Castillo is arguably top 25 ATG there....That's how good JLC was.
