it was clear Mayorga had only a small small chance of beating Cotto (by stoppage in the early rounds even though Cotto never really got stopped, but he quit),
In a sense, I think it was almost the perfect preparation fight for a Margarito rematch. Not the same style, obviously, but when Mayorga throws his flurry of punches, it pressures a fighter to find a way to react under that sort of stress, which is what Margarito's style does over the course of 12 rounds.
I thought Cotto was trading punches too much with him giving Mayorga the punchers chance but agree that Cotto's skills were just overwhelming.
Other than not getting the KO Cotto did a much better job than Mosely.
Mosely looked down right scared and very jumpy of Mayorga. Cotto is a cool customer..
What was the deal with the injured hand? All I saw was a left hook to the jaw....

yeah but margarito will be doing that the entire fight
mayorga only did in the last seconds of each round

I was comparing Margarito's forward pressure to Mayorga's pressure that come's from his flurries rather than walking someone down. It's Mayorga's ability to make you hesitant to react to him while he he's throwing that allowed him to take out Forrest and beat Vargas (although not impressive). Cotto's going to need to learn how to react to a fighter that can make most others feel nervous and timid.
