At 160, I really don't see any competition for Sergio at all. A Kirkland fight would end just like Williams 2. At 154, I'd be curious to see maybe Erislandy Lara get a shot at him. Other than that, I'd pick him to slaughter everyone at Junior Middle too. Floyd and Pacquiao are too small to even discuss. It sucks that there is no one out there to challenge this great fighter right now.
Well, the thread is about who can test Martinez. And like you say, there's nobody good enough at 160 and under to give him real competition. The only way he could test himself is to fight with a disadvantage. I wouldn't think of him any less for not moving up, but I would still like to see him try it.

What I'm wondering why nobody is asking the 168 pounders to come down to Martinez' weight class. Why does he have to go up? Would he not get any credit for fighting 168 pounders at 160?

If it is the ****ty Abraham that turned up against Froch it would be a stoppage.

            yeah, no doubt

i think martinez would give him too many angles

i can see AA trying to block and walk him down and martinez would be ducking the looping hooks AA throws

i just see it being a pretty wide UD at that

Felix Sturm might be an interesting fight, he has more dimensions than Dzinziruk and possesses a better arsenal but it's tough to see him beating Martinez.

Personally, I think a guy like James Kirkland could make Martinez dig deep, the type of constant pressure that a guy like Kirkland applies can wear down a boxer/mover like Martinez, it's the kind of style that handed Martinez his only loss to Margarito, even though it has been years since that fight and Martinez has obviously improved tremendously since then.

                Paul Williams!

People seem to look past him because he got ko'd by 1 punch. Imo the fight could go either way in a rematch, just like their first fight. (i thought williams won 1st fight btw)

dudes at 168 obviously, but the top guys at 160 are possibilities. we won't know until it happens, so hopefully it happens.

Good post. People should get off of Floyd and Manny's case for not wanting to fight a Middleweight, also.
Martinez is not a SMW, hes not even a big MW. Although he has the ability to probably beat a few of the top SMWs, he would be at a huge disadvantage.

Nah, Williams should have lost the first fight and got destroyed in the rematch. If theres a rubber match, Sergio straight buries him.
