i have to disagree with you my man, sergio has the goods, he's had tough fight after tough fight, all the while he's supposed to be a one trick pony, which he isnt, he's only gotten better.

look, dzinzurik is a master technician, and martinez blew him out the water. williams was supposed to beat the hair piece and piss out of him, twice, didn't, pavlik was supposed to be too big and strong, even still dealing the hopkins loss he was looked at in having the edge in their fight.

he cracked cintron so hard with a shot that kermit thought it was a headbutt. prior to the margarito fight he was undefeated and although against guys with so so records, a lot of those guys had a lot of fight experience and after that loss to margarito he's gone on undefeated and only gotten better as the competition has gotten tougher and more along the top level.

his training is superb, like floyds, manny's, hopkins, and the like, those guys at that super high level of just awesome fitness, he's that disciplined. he gets great leverage on his punches, has speed, a chin, great stamina, i mean cmon, dude is a stud at least and is becoming a beast ko'ing guys who have been known to have solid chins, he cracked them.

he's already proven that he's not a flash in the pan, he's lost, and only gotten better from it, a true professional. he can lose, there is a style and a will out there who can beat him, they just have to negotiate something fair for both and make it happen, whoever is first.

right now sergio is going to get names only, even if he loses he'll still get top names because of his overall skill and power, the only thing that stops him is if he gets completely outclassed, beat up, and knocked the **** out. and as of right now, even some of the bigger dudes sharking around out there in the deeper weights, i don't see anyone blowing martinez out the water, i only see him making a hell of a fight out of it.

just sayin, he's passed all the tests, and if he had a chance at margarito, he'd probably kill him............ from landing 100% of all power punches....

      Great post.

I don't see how anyone can hate on a guy who came out of nowhere and just smashed the top guys.

Martinez definitely got that mentality to dare to be great.

what makes you think he will fight pirog next? he could have fought him this time but he didn't. the very same process will happen next time. dibella will give hbo a list of opponents and they will pick a solid guy but someone who doesn't have much chance of beating martinez. pirog will not be considered because he's too dangerous. if asked you will hear dibella saying "who is pirog?" and things like that.

maybe hbo will eventually put their foot down and demand the fight but more than likely not. eventually some upstart will get the shot and upset martinez and the process will start all over again. by then martinez and dibella are rich men and the boxing fans never get the good fights. we've seen the same story play out over and over again. it's a rerun.

I wouldn't under hype Martinez either. He has underated power, and some A+ boxing skills. Martinez is very dangerous for anyone at middleweight. Martinez whoops Cotto in my opinion.

Martinez is the real deal - no question.

yeah, he's doing the things, you know.

really focused.... he's a professional, i like him, he matches up well with anyone really, i can't say i've ever seen him in a dull fight. even the little tape that i've seen of his, he has a good body of work.....

HBO gives in no doubt to fighters who have the clout like Al Haymon fighters but HBO put their foot down here and said it's either Dzinziruk or nobody to be on HBO. If Martinez can't get the jr Middles like Angulo or Cotto/Pac/May then there will be no choice but to take on Pirog. I think you holding Martinez to a much higher level then any fighter in the sport. He's been fighting the top guys for the past 2 years and now you accusing him of ducking a green fighter with 1 good win.

All you need to beat him is a hard quick jab and supreme conditioning. Dizzy's jab was ehhh ok but he did start to land it when it was to late.

pirog wasn't even considered. doesn't that strike you as odd? he badly wanted the fight and would fight for low money as well. dzinziruk was a good fighter but a complete unknown and not in martinez's division. pirog had been on hbo and scored a great knockout over a hyped up prospect. and he wasn't even considered by dibella? he may be green but if anyone's ever seen him fight they know he is highly skilled and probably one of the toughest match ups at middleweight.

boxing is fundamentally broken from a fans perspective. i'm sure its fine and dandy for the fighters and promoters but all the competitive fire has been ****** from it. fighters need incentives to fight the best. when they can get the same money and not risk losing there's really no choice at all.

To be honest I think you making a big deal out of nothing.

Martinez will fight Pirog who is a great talent and one of the best in the division right now(the division is shallow as **** but there ares some great up and coming fighters). Like I said if none of the jr Middle stars step up that will probably be the next fight, it's nothing about ducking and dodging. Pirog and Dzinziruk have the same name level for the casuals but it just happened to be that Shaw is promoting Dzinziruk. It's as much about politics then anything else in this game.

yeah donaire was the flavor of the other week and martinez is the flavor of the week. That's it, although I don't have problem with sergio being the # 1 p4p, he can have it.
