Martinez's first fight at middleweight was against Williams, so he aint NO middleweight, People need to stop making excuses, BHOP was a middleweight for years so he gets critise for it, Not Martinez who has only had 2 or 3 fights at 160..

He can fight Cotto,Mayweather,Pac or Margarito..Stop trying to protect your idols with BS excuses, If Martinez is overrated then all four names should fight him and expose his overrated asss.

Dibella said: "I'm the promoter. I've been told by my fighter that he's got two years left [before he retires.] I'm not fighting guys who don't bring 50 cents to the table. [Pirog] doesn't make any sense.”

dibella exposed! the same 2.4 million was in the pot no matter who the opponent was. pirog and dzinziruk being draws or bringing money to the table is irrelevant. hbo brings the money. he's lying and misinforming people. do dzinziruk or pirog bring anything to the live gate? nope so thats a mute point.

they actually overpaid dzinziruk 850k of that 2.4 pot. they could have taken more of the pot and offered pirog a fight which he surely would have taken(he fought for 50k against jacobs) this is a clear duck to me. he actually went out of his way to make sure a pirog fight didn't happen.
Man, some fans are just never satisfied with anything even when a fighter like Martinez is out there fighting the best. Would anybody really give Martinez any credit for blowing Pirog out of the water right now? Hell no! Do you realize Pirog is a fighter with only 17 wins and his only recognizable win is against an overhyped prospect in Jacobs? Dzin is a more respectable and tougher challenge on every level. He was an undefeated fighter with 37 wins, 154 champ, and is far more recognized in boxing circles. You are literally hating for no reason and thinking in your own delusional mind that Martinez is ducking a prospect with only 17 victories. Let Pirog make a name for himself and prove to everybody he's not just another flash in the pan, then I'll bet you anything Martinez will be there ready to take the challenge.

boxing is fundamentally broken from a fans perspective. i'm sure its fine and dandy for the fighters and promoters but all the competitive fire has been ****** from it. fighters need incentives to fight the best. when they can get the same money and not risk losing there's really no choice at all.
Pirog was considered by Martinez Camp, just not Hbo.
2 - Martinez already stated once he gets DIzzy out the way he wants to fight anyone regardless of name value - as long as they are a tough enough fight to get him p4p.

This is the reason he fought DIzzy. Not because the money was good and certainly not because people knew who dizzy was. But because dizzy is a great fighter. A very high risk with a very low reward - he wanted to test and prove himself. He will do so again with Pirog.

For people saying "this early in pirogs career". Pirog is 30. Not many fights under his belt but please believe there is a world of experience from training and sparring. Jacobs wasn't overhyped.. just over matched. It's easy to call green a hype job because he lost to pirog - yet you don't dare consider Pirog a hype job. Why?

Danny is a good fighter, he was beaten by someone who potentially could be an elite - a hidden gem like Sergio is, Winky was, and many men are/have been before them.

When B+ Fighters fight A-class fighters it's usually a noticeable difference in talent. Until proven otherwise, you have to assume Jacobs is a B-plus fighter who was derailed by a hidden A-Class in Pirog. When green loses to a gate keeper, struggles against a journeyman, or falls short to someone who ISN'T an A class - then your "hype job" argument will hold weight.

What hype? What more does the man have to do?

Tonight he out jabbed the most efficient jabber in the sport. He also countered the most efficient jab in the sport at will both under and over. He showed great head movement, better balance than usual and again, great power and amazing speed.

In his last 4 fights we've seen his heart, his power, his skill, and his ability to fight long, mid, and close range. We've seen that Sergio is mentality a complete fighter and physically too. He has yet to show us discomfort when being outboxed like Pavlik began to do, out worked like Williams did, or when in a Brawl.

What is so over hyped about him? If MArtinez is overhyped, then by god so is Winky Wright!

Another guy who didn't get a break until late in his career and only has a few key names under his belt but we all KNOW he was the real deal because he delivered when he finally was given that chance.

Everyone can be beat, obviously. By this logic, i guess the entire sport is overhyped.

Dzins best wins are Daniel Santos and Joel Julio not exactly world beaters.
