Plenty of ppl were picking Foreman to not just win but school Cotto and be too fast, this Mayorga fight is just a tuneup for Marg2 everyone knows that.

By plenty you mean like 2, right?

Anyway, Cotto is not shot, its just the ceiling of his ability was found out as well as all of his weaknesses that he failed to negate.

Deny it all you want but he wasn't as heavily favored as you are suggesting and most didn't think he would have as easy the time he did against Foreman after how good he looked against a fat inactive Santos.

I only remember a couple of ***ish posters that we still had back then backing Foreman. Cotto was not a sure winner, but he had an advantage enough for an overwhelming majority to pick him as a winner. It was understood that a fighter without enough power or toughness, unless they are Floyd Mayweather, were gonna lose to Cotto.

Cotto isnt totally shot yet, But he has been physically and mentally abuse by Margarito, And that fact that Margarito was to be caught with his hand wrap fiasco must have an even greater phycological effect on Cotto, He also has been involve in brutal fights with Judah, Clottey to some degree and then Pacquiao.

For me Cotto isnt the same anymore, He isnt shot but then he is damage goods for the top guys at the moment.

Spray is completely right on this, Plenty of people were very high on Foreman as they should have been considering he was a legitimate 154 guy who had looked very good against som good competition. And remember Cotto was unproven after the Pac loss and with a new trainer.

But Cotto is shot to some extent. He really never looked good to me when he got hit. He had this kind of sluggish look whenever he got hit hard. Not everyone could handle the punches the same. He's a tough guy though. Some get the shakes early.

You know what I think Steward has nailed it regarding the direction they are moving Cotto. The reason he has had all of these brutal fights is mainly because he has chosen to fight a brawling style, He was destroying these guys at 140 and chose to disregard his boxing skills. Also because he has fought such a high caliber of opposition.

Honestly I dont see him losing again unless Margarito simply has his number or he is able to rematch Pac. Most of his other opponents at 154 I think are guys he would beat handily.

Certain people here think that once a fighter loses, he's automatically shot. That's not how it works though. Being shot means you can't do what you did well in the past or you've lost ability- speed, reflexes, foot speed/movement, etc. Roy Jones Jr is shot, Miguel Cotto is FAR from it. How could anyone watch Cotto in the Foreman fight- taking on a bigger, slick, undefeated champion and throwing his jab with authority, moving around beautifully, cutting off the ring, and even going old school and finishing it off with a left hook to the body- and say he looked shot?

                      SHOT=
