Aside from the PPV numbers they are willing to let this go on as Vitali is the heavyweight "champ"....

Aside from that, the fact the WBC is making an all-african title makes me question that they will let Vitali face whoever...

Did I mention Mayweather will be fighting for the all-african wbc title in January?

    *Sighs*

Jabs-Why not? What had Sanders/Johnson/Williams have done? Atleast Ruiz would fight back and not choke up like the others, Ruiz would actually give Vitali a fight.

    Spinks....

Do you like boxing ? You cannot like boxing & give any support, in any way, to John Ruiz.

That ****er has hurt the sport. He's a disgrace.....

i think rahman is a likely opponent.... the word i'm hearing is that since rahman has no belt, king would have little to lose and alot to gain, so he would do it....

also, if you want to criticize VK's opponents, let's look at ruiz and byrd:

golota - has never won a big fight... only had 2 fights in 4 years, but magically gets ranked to get a title shot at byrd

fres - has NEVER beaten another good fighter, but gets 2 title shots

mccline - WTF did he do to get a title shot after getting PUNKED by wlad??

McCline got his shot after big wins over Lance Whitaker and Cedric Boswell. So he earned it (holding back laughter)

Oquendo, I believe, has only lost to Ruiz and Byrd and I had him winning 9 rounds against the Byrdman so Ruiz was likely a consolation gift from Don King.

Golota shouldn't have gotten his shot against Byrd, but when he did and he fought to a draw (I had him winning 7 rounds), he got another fight from King. Kind of like Kali Meehan...

Until Joe Mesi is cleared, James Toney is healthy, every heavyweight contender has a BAD heavyweight loss on their record right now...

That's precisely the point! If Vitali keeps fighting contenders the fans don't want to see, his market value should go down.

mccline beat whitaker before the loss to wlad, so beating boswell, an unproven prospect who never beaten anyone gets you a title shot?

fres was KTFO by tua, so what did he do get a title shot byrd???

my point is ruiz and byrd aren't exactly fighting worthy guys either...

mccline became a "name" (whatever that is anymore) by beating Whitaker, and at Boswell was undefeated so it kept Jameel's ranking "legitimate".

The Tua fight was controversial. Just ask Fres, he'll tell you...

"In the eyes of most fans" should count in the court of public opinion...but not in official rankings. Otherwise, why have "official" decisions & outcomes at all? That's why Byrd deserves his ranking, even though I think he's lost 2 of his last 3 fights...

I would like him to fight Golota but that won't happen so he should fight Monte Barrett.
