His boxing knowledge is vast he should find a young fighter to train and pass his knowledge to....I agree with him on Hatton fighting on the inside, like Ricky, make it ugly, dont sit on the outside and take a beating.
Roy Should be a Trainer

Maybe it would help if you and Roy watched any of Matthew Hattons fights.
Matt Hatton is an outside fighter, he can't fight on the inside to save his life, going on the inside with Alvarez would be committing suicide.
Just because his brother fights like that doesn't mean Matthew will or even can. -
If Roy did started to training fighters he will have to train them with just the fundamentals. He can't train them to be like him. Roy's athleticism and the way he threw punches was not text book. Matter of fact he wrote new chapters on the way he threw his power punchers in his prime. Like six or seven left hook combinations in succession with speed and accuracy You have to be special fighter to do what he did.Comment

i disagree. alvarez needs range for his power shots to have full effect. it would've nullified alvarez's (only)game if magic kept using pressure and movement on him and it did when matt closed the gap. he did a great job beating on alvarez inside last night, imo but he just didn't have the power to do anything substantial. when he stepped back he got beat up. if he kept the pressure and combinations flowing then clinched, he would've won some rounds.Maybe it would help if you and Roy watched any of Matthew Hattons fights.

This is one of the things I dislike about Roy Jones commentating, cos every time, some hero-worshipping fan of 'Roy Jones the fighter' talks up his commentating performance as gospel even if it's complete b/s.
Fans would be the same if Tyson or Mayweather was commentating, the line between being a great fighter and being an intelligent analyst gets blurred due to some residual hero-worshipping left over from their boxing prime.
Alvarez was the bigger more powerful man and puncher, MattHatt would've been bullied and KO'd if he took Alvarez on the inside.Comment

So does Hatton. Just without the power.
That is also Hatton's only game.
But he isn't a pressure fighter, and he is incredibly poor on the rare occasion he trys to.
No. He didn't.
That would be because he is a **** fighter.
If he kept the 'pressure' on he would have been slaughtered, he doesn't and can't fight like that.
I'm not one of those people that saw him fight for the first time last night and presume he fights like his brother. I have seen a long list of his fights that have been covered here in the UK.Last edited by IronDanHamza; 03-06-2011, 09:58 PM.Comment
