Mayweather has NEVER failed to make the contracted weight for a fight, and he was NOT fined by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
And, absolutely NOBODY gave him any credit for that win.
Mayweather re-negotiated the contract two weeks prior to that fight in order to bypass the commission and save himself $400k in penalties. My boy JMM made an extra 100k over the 500k that would have been afforded him by the NSAC.
That was still a b1tch-move, but catch-weight fights are a side-show anyways, so what can you really expect?
Your sentiment is 100% correct, just short on the actuals
Grow up.

I see no reason why the Commission shhould get a cent more than whatever fees they normally get. If they want to fine Canelo, that should be a privare matter and separate from the purse, which is between the 2 boxers.
If Hatton won't fight, (and I wouldn't blame him) I think that he is still, by contract, entitled to a solid percentage of the original purse.
So he should pull out and take his contracted amount. His opponent iis likely to rehydrate to about 170, and hatton, after all is a small welterweight.Originally posted by edgarg View PostI.8 lbs is just under TWO pounds, and the guy will probably be 170 at fighttime.Originally posted by jltsmae View Postmhatton should have demanded a 10M / pound penalty over the agreed weight limit to prevent canelo of getting an advantage over weight...Originally posted by Drunk Punch View PostI dont think team Canelo every intended to make weight. The catchweight was just about luring a very beatable WW up to face him.

I have a question here... Why was the title on the line for Canelo? Why only lost the money? Oh I remember now... the belt was GIVEN to him. That title shouldve been on the line only for Hatton.
