Anaheim, California - Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, of Mexico, and Matthew Hatton, of England, weighed-in for Saturday's showdown at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The vacant WBC junior middleweight title will be on the line. Alvarez, who failed to make the weight limit, was given two hours to lose the excess weight. Alvarez came in at 151.8-pounds. and Hatton came in at 149.6. The co-feature, with super featherweights in action, also made weight. Adrien Broner was 129.8-pounds and Daniel Ponce De Leon 128.4-pounds.

A few months back, because of Canelo's propensity for fights at 150, Saul's trainer was asked if Canelo was too big for 147..... he replied, nah, he will make 147 for the big fights, we just want to preserve his career and health by limiting the amount of times that he has to work to get down to 147.

Doesn't surprise me at all to hear that. Matt Hatton carries himself really well, it would be hard to not like the guy, I wish him the best of luck. Regardless as to their limitations, I like both of those Hatton bro's.Comment

But the point is, Canelo failed to meet his contractual obligations, Hatton did not. The fact that a title is up for grabs was only an after-thought by Sulaiman anyways.
