    Ya, sure thing pal

and your buddy mathew hatton is going to smash "that red headed mexican" and win a world title right?

i dont like to **** on boxing across the pond but i'll make an exception in this case since you apparently dont have any respect for the ballsiest fighters on the planet (the mexican ones, for the most part)

NOBODY CARES about the commonwealth or european titles

all they usually amount to is some clown making a trip across the atlantic to get his head caved in by a superior boxer on "the world level"

there have been a few great exceptions
    and i respect them

but your mathew hatton is a boy compared to a 20 year old canelo
and those mexicans you **** on have a sturdy little red headed bull they're gonna sick on your limey hype job

hatton will leave that ring in the care of his handlers
    badly hurt

    war canelo
    viva mexico

in the world of professional and amateur boxing, the USA is probably the most successful country. Cuba comes in a close second in the amateur field with Mexico in the contestable 2nd in professional field from the Junior Welterweight down, and Europe-combine from the Welterweight up.
If statistics is to be followed that will answer the question, if history is asked based on content, Britain has the richest in this history, even if it was in Greece that boxing as a sport came to be.

Back in the late 1700s and and early 1800s the towns people would gather together in a field outside of town pound 4 poles into the ground and tie rope around the poles making a square. The fighters in that time would fight bear knuckle for up to 8 hours until a winner was detirmined most often they fought to the death. 4 ounch gloves weren't introduced to the sport until the 1880s. Some of the longer bear knuckle fights would last for 60 or more rounds. If the police showed up most of the time they would break the fights up when that would happen the fight would be declared a draw. One of the longer fights I've read about lasted 22 hours ending in a 188 round draw in central England in the mid 1850s.
don't confuse boxing with bare knuckle boxing (fighting; as far as history is concerned), which is was called bare knuckle boxing to us, but it really was called "fencing", fencing with fists.....

i have many books about bare knuckle fights and the history, but the sport of prize fighting, aka boxing, really exploded over here in the US to gain the major momentum of the sport worldwide. there is a rich history with pugilism, way back to egyptian days and even before.

i think it's the best sport for one to participate in for ones entire life, mentally and physically, boxing really lets one know his place amongst those with skills and will.......
