Originally posted by BoxingScenery View PostI really need subtitles, but the person who upped the video was kind enough to subtitle only 1 line, I wonder why? he said he "had to lose" and then subsequently said, "I wasn't there b/c I had a very rough day" (I don't know if he's talking about the diarrhea issue that he mentioned before or what?) There's a reason I don't fall for the whole, staging a fight bull****, b/c if Clottey wins he makes more money and becomes a bigger star than he could ever achieve merely 'losing' a fight, as displayed by the current state of his "career." And do I need to mention that, Pacquiao is the overall better fighter. I think Clottey is somewhat underrated by some, yet overrated by others....he has the physical capabilities to be a good fighter, he has a very disciplined defense, a coordinated offense, along with your average intangibles, but he lacks something true champions have - and maybe that's heart, maybe it's just some kinda push, whatever....Every fight he's lost he's had an excuse, he's always fell short in his biggest bouts (aside from Judah), is it really a coincidence he had an "off day?" I think this has more to do with discrediting Pacquiao than it does Clottey, as a fighter, and that only highlights the sad group of today's boxing "fans."
With all that said, I want to believe Clottey had an off day, but quite frankly, I believe if Clottey opened up more, he would've been tagged more, but that's something he nor I will ever really know. I'm glad he's willing to put this fight behind him and move on, hopefully he gets a win over whoever he's fighting next (he's hella inactive tho) and maybe he gets another title shot in the future. I still think he was one of the bigger guys at welterweight, but perhaps a step up in weight is the way to go.
If you watch Clotteys post fight interviews with the media after he loses, he always has excuses. I personally thought Clottey was getting the better of Margarito before he 'broke his hand', but he gave up mentally after the supposed hand injury. I guess it's a rarity for guys like the late Arturro Gatti (RIP) to forge on after an injury to the hand, or fight on past horrid facial gashes like the late Edwin Valero (RIP), or keep coming on without even complaining after repeated blows to the b*lls like Brandon Rios, etc.... however, Clottey gives up mentally when the going gets tough. I found the bolded of your post particularly interesting (regarding Clottey falling short in his big fights w/exception of Judah). I think it was because he happened to be in there with a guy (Judah) who was (at the time) a bigger mental midget than he was himself.
Clottey has been continually hounded by the media (rightfully so)after his God awful (non)performance against Manny... with "Pacquiao this, Pacquiao that", which is why he repeatedly keeps saying he wants to forget the past and move on with the future. He's trying to re-sell himself by downplaying his loss to Manny, even by saying that Pacquiao was not the toughest fight of his career.
I think it's humorous when guys like Zab Judah spout off with crap about how Pacquiao's opponents didn't fight back, or it was 'staged' - rather then giving Pac due credit for taking the game away from a usually competitive fighter. They all think it's easier then it looks until they actually get in the ring with Pacquiao (*cough*Oscar DeLaHoya*cough*). Clottey thouroghly embarresed HIMSELF in that fight with Pacquiao, but he needs someone else to blame besides himself. If Pacquiao is not that special, and after the performance he gave for himself that night, what does that make Clottey then? FAR FROM "special".

Clottley is full of it. Just like with Margarito, just like with Cotto, he has an excuse. The dude is all talk.

Uh I'm not sure how you guys are reading it but when he says "I had to lose to him because I had to lose that day", I think he means it philosophically. Like it was destined for him to lose that day as it was gods will (I think he's ******?). His English isn't exactly great either so he made his point quite poorly.Last edited by Slevin; 03-01-2011, 06:30 PM.

If you look at these people fueling the fire "had to lose" theory...you right! they are not even a Clottey fans but the *****s! Just like what they did to all Pac opponents discrediting the whole situation tirelessly believing their coward vacationer idol will get the benifits in the end. Pathetic creatures!Last edited by straightleft; 03-01-2011, 07:48 PM.

I can`t believe a regular loser would say such things. He had his chance. I think he`s on drugs now.

Apparently, Clottey was getting heat from his countrymen. They did not like his effort. I know I did not. Would I believe Clottey or Arum? I think his performance plus this video is enough proof on which is true.
