When the tournament started everyone said that no one could claim the be the undisputed champion without beating Bute, and he has done nothing since then to change that.

As long as the Super Six winner fights Bute, there's no problem, we'll know who is best as soon as that fight takes place. Unless you are saying you would actually rather they didn't fight each other (which would be an insane position to take), then I don't see what the problem is. We'll find out who's best as soon as the Super 6 winner fights Bute.
Here is an interesting scenario-do you think Bute has automatically earned the chance at fighting the #1 best SMW because he was "froze" out of the tourney,or should he earn it by first fighting opponents like Froch, Abraham, Kessler, Dirrell, etc once the tournament is over?

If I was #1, I would suggest Bute EARNS his way like they (the S6 fighters) have had to do-let him get some wear and tear, because after this grueling tournament the only ones who deserve the easy fights are the ones who have fought the best available out there.

If they ran a super six in every division boxing would be alive and kickin'. No b.s promoter or belt/organization politics, just the best fighting the best...........Rockin'

Which is what they would have done had this tourney not occurred, I am just glad it happened and we are getting good matches.

I will only believe that if you provide a credible link. It certainly wasn't covered by any journalists on boxingscene.

That was just posturing - Dawson turned down a fight with Kessler at 168 and at catchweight, so he wasn't serious about moving down.

As for not "pushing", Showtime seem to have made some sort of agreement with him up front to keep on good terms, but the reason they excluded him was simply that he was insistent on rematching Andrade, which it would be crazy to criticise him for, given the way the first fight went.

If I was the #1 but was not undisputed then I would want to fight Bute in order to be undisputed. Ward (assuming he wins) will not be undisputed until he fights Bute. And Ward hasn't had any wear and tear so far, due to his style (or styles, but the point is, he has hardly taken any meaningful punches so far).

I never meant that it was completly meaningless...I'm just saying their were alot of bumps in the road and thought it lost some steam along the way..I'm still interested to some degree and thought it was great when it started..I would like to see glen johnson beat froch..

it most certainly fizzled with the injuries and drop outs, but it's still interesting, and the those still in it can bring it back to the forefront of the boxing media's attention....

i like the structure and the match ups in these tournaments, there really isnt an easy fight......... names going up against names, which is rare these days unless match makers are forced to put certain names in with one another.

just with all that has been happening in boxing, the super 6 became like 6th on the list, yah know, one good fight will change that perception around though.........

im still watching with much anticipation and eagerness.....

PS: i do think that they let it go on too long, which has taken some of the interests out of it, it's not fresh in peoples minds, too much time passes between the fights.

That's what you said you meant - look at the thread title.

That's just stating the obvious - but all great journeys have to negotiate bumps in the road. And it was obvious from the day it was announced that there would be bumps in the road. To Showtime's great credit, they have navigated the bumps and kept the show on the road.

The Super Six is one of the best things to have happened in boxing in the last 20 years, despite the bumps.
