He did have Acosta missing and hitting gloves, so his defense was present(spotty), but present nonetheless. And he was connecting on Acosta, who was to my surprise more difficult to hit than in his previos bouts. Both fighters showed up with their A-game. For the record Rios' defense is better than Margs D ever was. You right Jaz, there is alot of upside to Rios. He is very teachable, and picks it up quick.
        You sir know your stuff.

Acosta came in very sharp. He was throwing accurate 6 to 7 punch combos. That acosta beats a lot of the top fighters. It was rios's will and adjustments that won that fight. As the fight went along rios made subtle changes and started to take away the right that was brutalizing him early.

Both fighters deserve credit that was a fight fought at a very high level. It's like one of the commentators said during the fight......it's rare to have a pure boxer such as acosta posess this type of power......Rios overcame it.

Great point on cutting down the ring. Shuffling of the feet was what kept the pressure on. If rios had followed acosta around in a circle he would never had a chance.

Nice to see young fighters such as rios and jones bury the body

How about the damage rios's jab did. He busted acosta's eye open with just that one for the knockdown. Acosta said he never could recover from that first one.

Rios has real power, margs didn't/ doesn't

Rios should throw his jab more, it's a pretty good jab. Plus it'll help him get inside his opponents easier.

Jesus, what was Acosta then? A jorneyman? Besides JMM he was the top test for Rios in that division.
