But the man who threw [and lands] the cleaner effective punches should win, activity alone should not win fights in my opinion.
I was about to post that. Its hit the spot.

So we judge the winner of the fight by the total punches landed?

With Floyd being 41-0 I think that proves quite easily that throwing fewer but landing more is an effective strategy in boxing.

calzaghe was 46-0(better) and he thew a lot but landed few thus proving that is the most effective strategy in boxing.

you can land 1000 punches i can land one and knock you out... the emphasis is on clean effective punching the numbers dont really matter, if you land 100 out of 1000 and i land 150 of 400 the more effective punches (the ones that hurt) win the round. anything else is a toss up.

Landed punches are pretty close so I would be looking at who gave the harder shots. But if I base it on those numbers only, I would give it to the more active fighter.
