There would be a loooooooong list if you were to list all of the Boxers throughout history who are guilty of hitting a woman. Even Boxers that you wouldn't expect have been guilty of it.

Would you support a boxer who beats up women?

I also have a bit of a problem when Athlete's are looked as somehow needing to set examples to look up to with no noticable flaws. These people are human being and they have the same problems that any other person could have. They can't be perfect in their personal lives just because they're near perfect at their sport. Everyone has their flaws and weaknesses.
Just because we're not famous enough to have people deep in our business doesn't mean we don't also have things we regret and wouldn't want to be judged for.

It's not like I'm rooting how awesome he hits his wife or any other woman. We don't always know what goes on with boxers at the privacy of their homes. Who knows maybe a fighter we support right now might like doing some nasty shit we might be unaware of.
Why should boxers be role models anyway?

In the case of Braehmer, it wasn't a woman he was in any kind of relationship with.
Beating up women is bullying, and bullies sometimes have a cowardly streak. For example, Floyd beat up his wife, but he's afraid to go into the ring with Manny Pacquiao.
I'm certain many boxers like Sergio Martinez, the Klitschkos, and Pacquiao would never be so low as to beat up a woman.

Also hate to burst your bubble but women have been beaten by their husbands for years without ever speaking out, even resulting in their own death.
I personally wouldn't ever put a finger on a woman, but i also don't judge people i don't know about situation i was not involved in. Nor do i assume just because i like a fighter, that somehow they have high moral standings simply based on a few choice words to a cameraman.

Couldn't really care about what they did outside of the ring when it comes to supporting what they did inside of it, you support a boxer for what they do, which is box.
Monzon for example is one of my favourite boxers despite what he did out outside of the ring, what he did inside was / is what made me like him.Last edited by NChristo; 02-24-2011, 05:38 PM.
