Assault is different than battery imo~

Assault is the threat not actual beating~

It is still wrong but if you are going to throw around accusations and judgments get it right~

    • I don't get attached to boxers like some fans on here do so it really doesn't matter if they have an assault charge, adultery case or have 8 different baby mommas cause at the end of the day I'm here for the sport not such and such boxer.

Floyd's being charged with assault, Manny's been accused of cheating on his wife, Valero killed his wife then hung himself.. How does that affect you personally? At the end of the day, I'm here to see fighters get in the ring and do what they do best. Everyone has problems outside the ring and they handle it the way they do. I'm not tutoring or mentoring them so it really doesn't matter to me. Hell, even the calm Miguel Cotto got slapped around for getting at some drug lord's girl(wasn't he married at the time?)

Here in the country where I live, assault has a different meaning than in your country:

          from wiki:

Assault is a crime of violence against another person. In some jurisdictions, including Australia and Canada, assault refers to an act that causes another to apprehend immediate and personal violence, while in other jurisdictions, such as much of the United States, assault may refer only to the threat of violence caused by an immediate show of force.
But since Floyd is an American, I've edited my previous post.

          • Well, I knew most people in this echo chamber of idiots were racist and juvenile. Glad to know I can add sexist to the list as well. I've been to manny corners of the net, but never encountered so many clearly friendless socially inept losers. But at least the consistency and celebration of your ******ty and general loserdom provides for a good chuckle, carry on.

            • I believe in equality.

Ass whoopin's all round, inside and outside the ring 24/7.

                  • Depends what you mean by support. I'd still continue to watch them if I liked what they did in the ring or found them exciting. Would I respect them as individuals though? Not really.

But boxers, by and large, aren't saints, and it's not uncommon to come across domestic violence issues with them given their profession and the generally rough and lower-class background many of they come from.

When we watch boxing we're watching two men trained to beat the crap out of each other with their fists. In a sport that's inherently based on violence it's naive to expect its practitioners not to be violent men themselves, in all walks of life.

There are those who aren't, of course, good men who know when to draw the line. Those men I respect, even if I don't particularly enjoy their style.

But I suspect the list of boxers who've never beaten up women, cheated on their wives, beaten up other men outside the confines of the ring, took illegal drugs or engaged in other immoral behaviour is quite small.

It's the nature of the sport to attract violence and criminality. We're watching legalised violence every time two boxers step in the ring with each other. Don't forget that.
