your problem is you think jones vs calzaghe at the time would have been some major fight when it wouldn't have been. yes it would have been better then some of roy jones fights.

you know how badly jones would have been laughed at for fighting a protected euro champ who was smaller than him? come on you are just lying to yourself. some of the guys jones fought were crap but most the guys he fought were top 10 contenders. would andre ward get more respect for fighting a top 10 guy like andrade or sebastian sylvester?

it doesn't matter that calzaghe turned out to be a pretty good fighter it matters what he was at the time and at the time he was considered a protected euro chump who only fought bums and got early stoppages. and ultimately that's his own fault and nobody elses. he could have made a name for himself but he waited till he was 34. blame him, blame his promoter but blaming roy jones is a cop out.

Most of these guys didn't even follow the sport until 2000. No one who was avid then as they are now even knows what TS and co are talking about. No one ever thought Calzaghe was anyone to be feared. He wasn't even considered the best fighter in his own division then, rightly or wrong. What was he doing back in 2000 again?
