PS i enjoyed him clowning Jones. Entertaiment wise i liked it, legacy wise, nothing
I think trully great fighters, at least when they have a choice should retire off a fight their fans can watch multiple times. Something they can go back to and enjoy as a last memory of a fighter. Personally, even if I was a very big Calzaghe fan.. I wouldn't be able to watch that fight multiple times.

Calzaghe was in a unique position where his popularity was peaking and he could pretty much dictate terms to anyone in any of the neighboring weight divisions. He was holding all the cards and he bowed out off a layup. Take a chance, attempt the 360 dunk or atleast a backwards one..

after a number of approaches made by frank warren which were well documented, roy jones junior, hopkins and others including steve collins and the great nigel benn ALL in one way or another AVOIDED joe for ELEVEN YEARS.

You can block the fight out Mak, but this event got a 24/7.. Posters all over the subways in NYC. Looking back, Calzaghe doing his shoulder shuffle at a handcuffed frightened RJJ was kind of weak..
i didn't think so, i laughed my ass off. look how roy embarrassed and balled all over some guys? i don't give joe 100% props, but i give him more credit then some tend too. yeah, roy wasn't in his prime, neither was joe. joe was still more "in his prime" then roy. it just starts sounding silly when you try to base your entire argument off of something so subjective, and unquantifiable like "prime". im more of the "it is what it is" first kind of guy, then i look at stuff like prime, etc. Joe made roy his personal little ***** for 10 of the 12 rounds, and made him look a fool in front of his own people. PAYBACK for Roy doing ****y **** like that.

Yeah, but he did it to guys who were just okay or to guys that were actually very good(which is impressive). Doing it to RJJ really just exposes the fact that you are fighting the shell of a name. This was like Batman shuffling his feet in front of a Superman who ate kryptonite flakes for breakfast.. A healthy superman fries batman with laser beams from his eyes.. (<<<< Very Scientific analysis)

              Trevor Berbick's win over a 39 year old Ali is a 1/5.

              Kevin McBride's win over a 39 year old Tyson is a 2/5.

              Calzaghe's win over a 39 year old RJJ.. I'll give him 3/5.

havent watched it in a while, but i enjoyed it last time i watched it lol.

put it this way, i was a hell of a lot more watchable than a Hopkins 2 fight wouldve been.

He probably shouldve popped Pavliks cherry before Hopkins got his hands on him instead of fighting Jones. Wouldve got a decent payday for that.

if i remember correctly, now please, correct me if im wrong, and pardon my ignorance. . . BUT, wasn't joe only like a 1.5/1 favorite or something? maybe 2-1? It really wasn't some match like "maidana-morales" where morales will likely be a 4 or 5 AT LEAST to 1 under dog.

and no, roy did ****y **** to BUMS. he sure as **** didn't do that **** to tarver, lol. OR glen johnson.

Yeah but no one takes this fight seriously, and no one other than the staunchest of Calzaghe supporters would ever give the fight repeat watches.. Therefore the showboating dies with everyones first view.

RJJ has highlights that will be seen over and over again forever b/c they were actually in real fights. So granted, a tree fell in a forrest.. However everyone knows that tree was already hollow and therefore did not give a **** and won't bother to revisit or relive it..

All I'm saying is Calzaghe is better than this fight. It's not an attack on all things Calzaghe to say he's better than this fight. IMO he could have gone out on a much higher note.
