Tito's 2 left hooks that put Vargas down were nasty..as was Oscar's left hook that floored Vargas.

If thrown right then yes the left hook can be devastatng. Tommy Morrison had an incredible Left Hook.

Martinez and Pac are lefties, don't know if you are asking if a left power punch is more devastating.

It depends on the fighter and what power punch he favors or is good at and always the punch you don't see.....

a right hook is always the most dangerous, if a big puncher lands it usually always hurts his opponent which cant be said about the left hook

I saw a programe on the science of unches and the straight right from a boxer was the most powerful punch with more power than a left hook. But with the hook you have less time to react and it hits the chin side ways whereas the straight right goes straight through. The angle of attack and it's hidden nature make it the most devastating punch.

you are talking about left hands in your oritinal post, some of which are not hooks.

many of those are thrown by southpaws (left hands coming off of the back foot. a left hand that comes off of the front foot of an orthodox fighter is what we call the hook)

manny's kayo of hatton was a short overhand left that he timed when hatton pumped his hands before he punched

maravilla timed the position of williams head as he came foreward and threw a left hand he called a "Swing punch"
if you ask me it was an overhand left thrown late to take into account the position of williams head (which he had seen for 13 + rounds already)

what donaire threw on saturday was a left hook
it's got a little bit more torso rotation that the pure hook that sugar ray robinson made famous
but it's a hook none the less

it starts from the ground on the front foot
and travels across the body (and your opponents body) as you explode from the ground.
it's the closest punch to your opponent
it allows it to be short and undetected, as well as timed in between shots to allow an opponent to "walk into one" or not see a shot coming

in my opinion the hook is the most dangerous punch in boxing

but as a general rule the hardest punch is the cross (from the back foot with your dominant hand. its about transferring weight late as you punch through a target. think of a baseball swing or pitch and you see the basic idea behind generating its power)

Thanks for the breakdown. Makes alot of sense since the proximity of the Punch is key. It seems most of the power comes from the legs and your hips. Do you Think the placing of the punch has anything to do with its success? It seems like the chin and the temple is the magic button
