Floyd/Hatton, Pac/Hatton, Sergio/Williams, Donaire/Montiel. It seems like the most impressive and devastating KO's recently were all due to the left hook. Is it the most devastating punch in boxing as far as one punch KOs?
Is the left hook the most dangerous punch?

Depends on the fighter. Pac and Martinez KO's came because they are southpaws and it's their backhand; a bit easier to generate power that way.Comment

Harder to see a good hook coming due to the way it travels.
We all know punches you don't see kill.Comment

It generally creates the most one-punch KOs since the punch comes at an angle that is harder to see coming.
If you look at one-punch knockouts, you'll find the left hook being more frequent than any other punch.
This, naturally, doesn't include southpaws.Last edited by Thread Stealer; 02-22-2011, 10:14 PM.Comment

most great left hooks aren't seen and hits the side of the jaw pivoting it.
most straight rights hit the cheek and the opponent usually already see it a bit before it makes contact.
right straight generates more power and knocks opponents out against their will.
left hook come from the side and usually hits an exposed chin with an unaware victim.Comment
