Is the left hook the most dangerous punch?

Floyd/Hatton, Pac/Hatton, Sergio/Williams, Donaire/Montiel. It seems like the most impressive and devastating KO's recently were all due to the left hook. Is it the most devastating punch in boxing as far as one punch KOs?

Depends on the fighter. Pac and Martinez KO's came because they are southpaws and it's their backhand; a bit easier to generate power that way.

Harder to see a good hook coming due to the way it travels.

We all know punches you don't see kill.

Good point, I think that's the key is not seeing the punch coming. I think RJJ's was so successful because he was so quick with it.

Nope, it's the punch you don't see coming.

donaire was the only real left hook ko. hatton was ko'd mostly by the ring post as you can see him trying to regain his balance then go limp when his head impacts the post. pac and martinez were straight lefts.

It generally creates the most one-punch KOs since the punch comes at an angle that is harder to see coming.

If you look at one-punch knockouts, you'll find the left hook being more frequent than any other punch.

                This, naturally, doesn't include southpaws.

most great left hooks aren't seen and hits the side of the jaw pivoting it.

most straight rights hit the cheek and the opponent usually already see it a bit before it makes contact.

right straight generates more power and knocks opponents out against their will.

left hook come from the side and usually hits an exposed chin with an unaware victim.

I would say the uppercut, when an uppercut lands clean the reciever is usually in trouble.
