To even suggest HBO needs Arum is lunacy, there are other pomotional companies out there and if HBO wants to put them on and make stars they can.

I was thinking of this when watching Cotto-Mayorga's pre show on Showtime. They made the fight seem dull (not that this is a fantastic matchup but it's a garanteed good action fight) and repeated the same thing like a 100 times, and showed the same clips 50 times. On HBO they show the training of the fighters and address different subjects.

I don't know about that.. history has shown Arum bringing in the most money to HBO since its inception. There is a reason that heads will roll at HBO sports.. you can count on it. Arum brings in $$$$ and that's the bottom line in any business.

big boxing events need to happen on basic cable networks. Fugg HBO and Showtime. ESPN needs to grab one of these events - make some cash and get boxing into more living rooms at the same time.

HBO made a good penny off of GBP as well, and Don King during the Chavez, Tyson, and Tito years, HBO is greater than Bob Arum
