HBO, Just Plain Better Than Showtime

So many of you love to hate on HBO and wave the Showtime flag every time Sho makes a little noise in boxing, but when its said and done HBO dominates when it comes to presentation, lighting, the excitement generated pre and post fight, etc...Showtime despite some great fights simply have a boring television production, the Super Six promo in particular may be great for hardcore fans but the Showtime presentation was so dull casual fans didnt take notice. With HBO they make you feel like your watching a big fight, about to witness history. IMO, Donaire-Montiel just seemed more exciting and meaningful cause it was on HBO, if on Showtime wouldnt have had the same effect.

HBO do have better presentation. Very few could argue against this, on the whole their commentary is usually better as well (Max Kellerman aside). But Showtime still do a very good job.

yes, hbo has the more fancy presentation indeed. showtime seems to do more with less though.

Vasquez-Marquez have had 4 great fights on Showtime, 3 were classics, if this happened on HBO, they would be as big as Barrera-Morales and Gatti-Ward trilogies. Hell they making movies about Ward simply cause of the HBO exposure. We will see what Showtime can do with Pac-Mosley, I'm not expecting much.

I prefer HBO over Showtime, i think its more to do with the familiarity than the quality.

HBO has better production values and the better fight announcers and they have a bigger budget, but they put on a lot of garbage fights due to poor matchmaking and they overpay boxers.

I mean bidding against themselves to get dawson on their airwaves?

paying berto $1 mill to beat up WW bums?

            c'mon man...

Tarver right now is the best thing about Showtime, I hope he calls Pac-Mosley, the worse scenario is when a fanboy like Lampley calls Pac's fights. With that said I like Lampley but not when he's asked to create false excitement with ****! and Pow!

it's because hbo has the bigger budget.

showtime puts on the better fights for less money imo.

hbo usually gets the big stars while sho puts on the better matchups.

Its not overpaying when you have the money, I'm glad the fighters are getting bigger cuts of the pie, even if it does create a "Money" Mayweather.

yeah hbo has always been better but their fight schedule this year is garbage.

                    berto-ortiz
                    maidana-morales(ppv )
hopkins-pascal 2(i enjoyed the first fight but i ain't interested in the rematch. any young, prime fighter that gets beat by someone as old as bhop embarrases the sport.)

i will cancel my hbo subscription after march 12th. after the only good fight on the schedule.
