Let the Filipino's have their moment! Donaire is obviously very proud to be Filipino and the flag they had in the ring after his win was a Philippine Flag not an American Flag...JUST SAYING!
Donaire is a typical case of the hyphenated-American, and always will be. That's the reality if you live in Canada or the US, and are not white. No matter how integrated you are, there will always be the question, "but where are you really from?"
I am not saying this is negative or positive. It is what it is. There is a good and bad side, but maybe this is how the world should be. A world where people move freely and have a mult-national, multi-ethnic identity. Maybe this is the foundation of peace in the planet.
