exactly. these days fighters are being force fed to the public. fans were told that andre berto, jermaine taylor, juanma lopez, jc chavez jr. among others would be stars before they actually accomplished anything in the ring. and their promoters have done everything possible to assure that their gravy trains would not be derailed. and these fighters are getting very good paydays without imo actually having done the real work. and then you have fighters like sergio martinez, chino maidana, among others who did not have the big name promoters, and actually became stars in the sport by actually doing the work, and FIGHTING their way to the top.

the sport to day is pure b.s. too much fabrication of champions. a simple example fromthe past. of the fab 5, ray leonard is the only one who had the benefit of heavy promotion early on, but even so, he did the work to get where he got. duran, hearns, benitez, hagler all got to the top not by promotion, but by actually fighting and proving they belonged every step of the way.
