    Sheeeit.

You're on crack for a few reasons:

1)Berto is not American, he's Haitian.
He was born in America. He is American with Haitian decent. If we went by this theory no one would be an American.
2)He's a liability, not an investment
That's an opinion. Right now he is a liability but has shown the skills that HBO is looking for in a star. HBO has always built their stars around very athletic fighters.
    3) American fight fans don't like his ****, which is why he's not popular or a draw. The only reason people know him is because Hbo is too stubborn to admit he's a mistake. The same way a baby that gets created by **** is a mistake.
Perhaps but still an opinion. As it stands Berto is still undefeated and has shown flashes of brilliance. He's young and has potential.

4)You're wrong about Pacquiao and the lighter weight classes
Americans do not care about weights under light weight. I'm sorry but they don't. The lack of ppv fights and fights pre 2000s showed the lack of interest in those divisions. Whens the last time HBO even showed a fight under lightweight?

5)Montiel or Donaire are both worth 10 times as much as Berto.
Perhaps but once against the sport is as much a business. Americans do not care about these two fighters and that's just the way it is.

GTFO my thread
You're right this fight isn't on PPV but it backs my statement that Americans don't care about lower weights. While PPVs with RJJ, BHOP, Jermaine Taylor, DLH, Trindad, Tyson and others littered the landscape of hbo boxing, rarely were the lower weights demanding such treatment.

Everything revolves around nationalism with me? I'm sorry that the fact that Americans caring about American fighters or HBO wanting to find as many good American fighters piss you off. Aren't you from England? The country that more than any nation in the world loves to hype up its fighters.

If Americans truly care about the lower weights why will this fight fall well short of Bradley/Alexander in tv ratings? And don't give me some bull**** that ones a WCB and ones a BAD card. HBO didn't really do much advertising for Bradley/Alexander except a faceoff and a ****ty greatest hits for each fighter.

naseem was an exception. not too many draws in the lower weight classes.

        that's just how it is.

it's changing a little and the little guys are getting more exposure but for a long time the majority didn't care about the lower weight classes.

there's a reason why pac's ppv fights at 130 are some of the best selling ppv's for under-147 fights.

and it was only doing what 350k-450k?

HBO could pay Berto no more then 500k if they wanted. Nobody else would pay more for him unless he is fighting in a major PPV. Idiots.

They can probably make Segura-Gonzalez for half the purse of Montiel-Donaire.

400k buys is a very successful PPV. Berto ain't selling no PPV's unless he is carried by a big name, if he is the main draw he wouldn't sell 100k buys even with a stacked card.

Berto sucks dude but he demands more money than these two guys because in HBOs eyes he's an investment. Part of the reason he's an investment is because he fights in a division Americans show interest in, he's American, and has skills that HBO knows perks the interest in it's viewers. He obviously is overpaid but there's reasons why he gets paid what he does.

When was the last time anyone said: "oh man, I can't wait for that next berto fight"..

Whereas everyone has been clamoring for Montiel/Donaire for years. You're just being Hacksaw Jim Duggan right now and whats worse is that Berto's not even American.

If you're gonna go out of your way to try to hang on to dead American glory, at least use a real American fighter like those bums from Michigan you guys call fighters.
