it's common knowledge that the lower weight classes aren't too popular in america.

i don't know where the argument comes from.

has there been some stars in the lower weight classes? of course.

doesn't mean the lower weight classes are popular though.

below-147 and between 168-200 have never been that popular.

it use to go 201+ , then 160 , then 147 , then 135 as the most popular.

168-190/200 were seen as mostly european divisions.

below 147 were the latinos and asians.

Whereas everyone has been clamoring for Montiel/Donaire for years. You're just being Hacksaw Jim Duggan right now and whats worse is that Berto's not even American.

If you're gonna go out of your way to try to hang on to dead American glory, at least use a real American fighter like those bums from Michigan you guys call fighters.
Well I'll be the first person to say I can't wait for the next Berto fight. I think Ortiz/Berto is a nice fight. As for Montiel/Donaire, it's a great fight but only hardcore fight fans care about it because it is in a division that only the very hardcore of fans care about. I still don't get why you say Berto isn't American though. Yes, his parents are Haitian but he was born in America. That in itself makes you automatically an American. No one is American if you have to be born by full blooded Americans because it doesn't exist. I want you to elaborate on this.

What a disgrace, they are ripping these dudes off while paying Berto to fight past it's and never gonna-be's.

Berto was an HBO inversion they hoped some of the big names would fight him they even got him the WBC title, of course people will only fight you if you're a draw and berto stock has decreased not increased
HBO is probably praying Ortiz beats him at least hes kinda mexican so they can market him

You people are so ******ed you can make plenty of $$$$ in the lower weight classes Barrera and Morales were making MILLIONS in every big fight. Just because Americans aren't in to it doesn't mean there isn't money to be made.
