Well Rhodes won a title eliminator in 2009 against Jamie Moore which made him their #1 contender and in line to fight Sergio Martinez. Sergio vacated the belt and instead of lining up Rhodes for it, they let pac fight Marg for it.

Now somehow Rhodes is not the #1 contender, but Saul is. to make Saul the #1 contender, it was as easy as erasing Rhodes name and writing Saul as the #1 contender

The bottom line is this: The WBC will do anything in its power(legal, illegal, moral, immoral, ethical, unethica l) to have a Mexican boxer become their champion... it shouldnt be a shock that Canello is fighting for belt, i mean look at what these mobsters did with the 160 title... Make Sergio some emeritus champion or whatever, take his belt and line it up for Chavez Jr. to fight some Euro noone has heard of and gift him that belt... anyone see a trend here? why isnt Chavez jr forced to fight the real champ, Sergio Martinez if he wants to become WBC champ.. they have to pull this crap and make 5 different champions, super champ, super-super champ, BS champ, champion in retirement etc etc... just to get junior a belt he cant really earn, jsut like Canello... Canello has the goods to be a champ but not now, and not fighting a guy whos is ranked by the WBC in its 147 class...

As a Canelo fan I'm very disappointed he has to fight a welterweight for this belt. I seriously hope he defends (assuming he wins) this belt against Rhodes or Angulo. As for him being a paper champion just wait until he defends the title, if he defends it against sh**ty opponents then can you call him that. But so far this is not good for Canelo's image.
