To me that is the difference between him and Ali. Any other fighter the comparison works because there was only 1 Muhammed Ali
i would disagree with that statement. Ali was first known as a boxer, just like pacman. Ali then became known for his civil rights acts, & stand against the war. Its common knowledge that pacman is much more than just a boxer in his country. The guy is a movie star, music star, & now he's a congressman as well as a active boxer just like ali was an entertainer in college campuses & variety shows.

Both were known as boxing stars first. I mean there's a cease fire between ****** rebel forces & government troops whenever pacman fights as well as the zero crime rate. I dont even think ali can do that.

To say only ali is known for things other than boxing would be false.

I mean, there's only one michael jordan but how many times have we heard the comparisons?

Whereas Ali took a stand against the government for his religious beliefs and paid the ultimate professional price for it, Pac is using the government to better the lives of his people. Two sides of the same coin.
Couldn't rep you with GREEN KARMA just yet....

I think your sensibility really shows, thanks. It is so simple that people attached to PACQUIAO-NOT-BEING-THE-P4P-FIGHTER-NOW is not accepting the very simple analogy/comparison of one's transcending popularity.

Thanks for being the voice of reason.

I didn't mean to say only for other things but was known for many things and a big component of that is outside the ring stuff.

Manny is only starting to get there for his outside the ring stuff and he is more Micheal Jordan than Muhammed Ali at least at this point.

it could change in the future though no doubt Manny can still do a lot and thank you for staying on topic.

i guess in the mainstream international sense pacman is starting to get noticed not just with his boxing but his other endeavors, but as far as being noted for his out of ring influence, pacman has been that for awhile in the philippines. I guess that's where the ali comparison comes into play. Ali is to african americans in his time period equals what manny is to the philippines more so.

Well when you talk about influential athlete Muhammed Ali is the apex. To me you don't compare someone coming up with the apex.

Manny is coming up in that regard and is really important in the Philippines but I think he is just starting out in that regard in terms of really utilizing his influence.

That was my issue with the comparison nothing more.
