Steward and Cotto's style match up well. I think they're a perfect fit.

On topic though, Maidana and Nacho's styles seem to contrast way too much for it to be effective. I think its a decent pairing, but I'm not sure how good it'll be.

Is Maidana willing to drink his own pee to gain super powers?

Just take a look at the list of fighters Nacho has trained; The Marquez brothers, Daniel Zaragoza, Ricardo Lopez, Rodolfo Lopez, Gerardo Martinez, Victor Rabanales, Humberto Gonzalez, Guty Espadas Jr., Melchor Cob Castro, Enrique Sanchez, Abner Mares, Eduardo Escobedo, Vicente Escobedo, Oscar De La Hoya, Juan Sanchez - the general, common theme between these fighters is that they are technically adept.

Maidana's techincal ability is mediocre - I don't see how Nacho can turn him into some kind of technical fighter at this stage of his career. He needs a trainer like Goosen or Capetillo to enhance his current style and get him in tremendous condition to do what he does best - which is enforce relentless pressure.

honestly i thought orlando cuellar was the perfect match for Cotto

he has done wonders with Glen Johnson and Cotto's style is similar to Johnson in that he is essentially a come forward pressure fighter but one that can box aswell like Johnson

still he did alright getting Manny Stewart in though

i think Maidana just needed someone with extensive boxing knowledge and that can break that down to the fighter in the most practical way

Diaz is experienced but he's a cutman by trade when going over the fight plan and devising strategies in the gym you need a real trainer

regardless of how much Nacho can instill in him at this stage in his career it surely can't hurt to take advice from him rather than Miguel Diaz

I agree, and yea Goosen would have a been a better fit.

obviously can't truly change style on Maidana, BUT Nacho can make him a better all around fighter. you'll see it in the next fight.

Is Capetillo still banned in the US?

He's done wonders for similar types of fighters (Tony, Segura etc).

He would have been a much better pick, but maybe Maidana was put off by the controversy etc.

cant wait to see what it looks like when nacho gets his hands on the most gifted pressure fighter in the sport

chino's gonna pressure like a mexican

he's got a great fight to learn as well

a guy who's got clout and will make him money and give him confidence because he's a legend
but it's also a fight that will be hard for chino to lose

great opportunity for chino. would really like to see him sharpen his game so he can stick around and be a champion
so glad he's not going to be just a flash in the pan

if he didnt get up in thaty first round when khan dropped him
that what he would have become
                now that's boxing

I thought it was just a one-year suspension?

I wonder if Nacho will be his manager as well?

If he is, that's it Maidana career will be going down the shitter.
