That's what he was, a "talented" fighter and not a very skillful one. Not that he did not have skills, it's just he had to rely on athleticism, reflex, and speed more. But when you reach a certain age you're f**ked! Unlike Hopkins or JMMarquez who rely simply on skills and ring smarts.

You people need to stop separate skill and talent to justify your arguments. They are really two of the same. To recognize talent one has to see skills. How else would you notice a talented fighter without observing he has some sort of skill? He might have not reach his full potential skill wise, but he was very skill/talented nonetheless. you people kept saying athleticism, but NO fighter can accomplished what Roy had based on just athleticism. Roy was a special fighter who was an unstoppable force in his prime but had terrible technique. Once those physical gifts faded he was doomed.

But who is to actually say what good technique is? There is no SET way to do things...there's no book to read to say if you are doing it right or wrong...RJ did amazing things physically, sure, but I disagree with those who say he didnt have good technique...he implemented great technique frequently...it was enhanced by his physical gifts, not replaced by them....
