They piss off Mosley by pushing Pac/Juan3, lose Shane. Now lose Marquez because they can't get him that fight. I've got to think GBP did alright by both these guys, ask Marco how free agency has been treating him.

Marco was on his way out after the Pac-Barrera II (his last fight with Golden Boy) anyway.. After losing 2 big fights back to back, there was no were left to go for him even if he stayed with Golden Boy. In fact he "retired" for 1-2 years after that fight..

GBP is the most pathetic boxing promotion in business. Look at what they did to Mosley after Margarito and BHOP after Pavlik. They didn't do **** and let them sit there. Golden Boy already screwed over JMM. Instead of protecting JMM - their own fighter, Golden Boy handed JMM on a silver platter by making him fight Floyd at 147. They chose Floyd over JMM! Then for a possible Pac-JMM 3, Golden Boy demanded Top Rank for a buyout, which basically demanded Top Rank to pay double the purse JMM received when he fought Floyd. Golden Boy wanted to get paid for doing NOTHING!! That killed the Pac-JMM trilogy!! Golden Boy has no idea how to manage their own fighters!

I agree. And I don't think that GBP doesn't know how to manage fighters, it's that they are only looking out for themselves and not what is in the best interests for their fighter(s). By trying to force JMM to sign a long term contract, they just opened the door for him to leave. Even though Morales is past his prime, JMM vs. Morales would have done big business especially among us hardcore and the Mexican fans and GBP just screwed themselves out of a big payday. I hope JMM goes to Top Rank and we will get Pacquiao vs. JMM III in November. Then maybe Mayweather will decide not to deal with GBP and work with Don King and we can finally see Pacquiao vs. Mayweather in May 2012 (assuming Pac beats JMM, which is no certainty)...

Unfortunately, I think it's the other way around. Both Barrera and Morales knew that JMM would be tough to beat so they found ways around fighting him. Plus, with JMM going to Indonesia and fighting Chris John and losing (I had that fight a draw both times I scored it), it gave Barrera and Morales another excuse to fight other guys. And don't take this that I don't like Barrera and/or Morales, those were my favorite Mexican fighters when they were in their prime. If JMM would have taken the Hamed fight when he was offered it, he would have trashed him and made a case to fight these guys in their prime. Instead Barrera got the call and took care of him...

Can you hate on Arum more? When boxing was in its "golden era" Bob was the one making those fights. He's been around since the Ali days, get a grip he obviously knows more about promoting and making money as I'd bet you never promoted a fight and aren't a multi-millionaire. Also seeing as he makes money hand over fist he obviously must be doing something right, did you also forget he's getting fights on CBS and actually DOING something for boxing. Yet we have Golden Boy giving us Marquez vs Morales? You can't say thats good for boxing yet hate on Manny/Shane, at least Shane has been somewhat active for the past 3-4 years.

As for the topic, Shane had money in GBP and he left. Personally I think his wife ****ed him over after the divorce is probably sucking some guys off at GBP for 7 figures. Now JMM is leaving them and I'm sure he has a pretty valid reason if you ask me. Also as I stated this before Bob has been doing this for 40+ years GBP maybe 10, MAX. I'll go with Bob any day of the week because while he may not give us the fights we want RIGHT AWAY he still gives us those fights and it makes them and the event better. Promoting isn't just matching up two guys like HBO did with Bradley and Alex, Top Rank takes the time to develop their fighters, they are even responsible for Mayweather being who he is. He left in '06 since then he had what... 2 fights? Golden Boy is obviously not the promoter Arum is/was or ever will be, because they'll never catch up to 40+ years of experience.
