    Canelo Alvarez, the real deal?

There are many who aren't really impressed with him so far and think he's just another hype job from Mexico. Personally, I don't know how good he is or can be but one thing to remember is the kid is 20 years old with 36 fights under his belt already.

People forget how young he really is and he seems very composed in the ring for someone that age.

Do you think he will be the real deal or hype job?

Check this video though, at 2:34 Saul does a rack check, kid is a pimp.

Need to see more, he is only 20 so no rush but I need to see him against faster fighters and see how he contends with being at a speed disadvantage in addition to just better classes of fighter.

Definitely need to see more. I wasn't impressed with his last couple fights, so we'll see how he does in the near future.

i like how he put baldomir to sleep. that left hook got there quick, that's something to be proud of. also he has grit, as cotto checked him real nice and i think he took him out 2 rounds later or something.

bringing him along the right way will be paramount to his success. lets not get crazy and fernando vargas this guy all quick like.

You nailed it right there man, that's the key. The kid is getting so much attention and is a celeb in Mexico already, I hope he stays focused.

I was also impressed with him putting Baldomir to sleep, dude may be slow and oder now but has an iron chin and that was a 1 punch KO.

We need to see more of him. But, he could be special. The times I've seen him, I enjoyed his skill set, but still needs to grow. Things are looking up though.

One thing we know for sure is the kid can draw a crowd and generate crazy tv ratings. He had over 60 million views for one of his fights. That is crazy.

For one recent bout, Schaefer said Televisa officials told him that Alvarez drew an audience of over 60 million people, similar to what the Mexican national soccer team gets for its games.

He is still very raw, but that's of course because he is only 20 years old.
I don't know if he will ever become as good as his ridiculous current hype suggests, but I am afraid Golden Boy is pushing him too early, because he is already on his way to a real cash cow in boxing.
As of now, he would definitely lose to the best in his division, so they should be very careful with the opposition they match him up with.

Yeah no doubt about it. Here in Mexico everyone knows who "Canelo" is. Even if they're neophytes when it comes to boxing they still think of Canelo as our future star. Who knows, with the proper guidance he can become a good champion.
