American Football is not a world sport, it only really played in America. In much the same way Sumo is a Japanese sport or darts in Britain. Sure some people and a few other countries participate in these sports but nowhere close to the same degree.

Obviously if American Football was played widely in the rest of the world as it is America a lot of the current American players would be displaced.

Fortunately, the majority of the world finds it boring.

So boring that they have sold out Wembley on numerous occasions.

Over a million people go to watch football every week in the UK, quite a bit difference to 80k a year.

Your point was that it isn't popular when clearly it is. They only host one game a year and its sold out every time so it clearly shows it has some support.

Compared to football who will get around 50 million paying supporters a year.

Dart, speedway, snooker cricket, rugby and even Boxing is more popular.

It isn’t what I would call popular, I don’t know anyone that watches it. If it only happens once a year then more of the fans are likely to turn out. I would consider it a fringe sports. I know more people that play table tennis in a local league than i do play "American" football.

You don't have to play it to support it. I mean im sure not everyone on this forum is a boxer but they are fans of boxing. So that table tennis arguement is so ******ed you should probably just delate that post. It is a lot more popular then people think. Im not saying its as popular as soccer is in other countries but the Superbowl is the most watched sports event in the world every year. So to ignore its popularity is just ignorance on your part, so cos you don't watch it no one else does.

In America everyone knows what soccer is even if many don't like it they will still acknowledge it. When big European clubs play in America they often don't sell out the stadium if you want to compare like with like.
